fibro and nuclear stress test

Yesterday I went to nuclear medicine where I had to get a stress test. Since I can't do the treadmill because of the fibro they injected me with meds to speed up my heart rate. When I went in I was having a pretty okay day (for me). As soon as they gave me the meds I got a headache and got lightheaded. They said the symptoms would only last for max 30 min.
So I went home and laid down for a little bit. I then got really sick to my stomach and started vomiting. My husband took me to the ER where I got an IV with some meds and fluids. My body started aching, from my ankles to my neck. When I stopped vomiting they send me home. A few hours after I got home I couldn't take the pain in my body anymore. I had to crawl to the bathroom. My husband took me back to the ER where they gave me pain meds and discharged me. The doctor says that it has nothing to do with the test I got and basically told me I was overreacting and it was all in my head (like I've heard a million times before). Anyways, I'm wondering if the test could have triggered a fibro flare. I obviously get the body aches with my flares but never as instantly as it did yesterday. Does anybody have any experience with this?

The med thay gave you to speed up your heart is something you don't tolerate, I'll bet. I know I can't take Dobutamine, which is the med they usually give. It's full of sulfite (sodium metabisulfite) and I'm intolerant to sulfites.

I would definitely keep that med on a list that you carry with you and refuse to ever have it again. I carry around an entire page of my med sensitivities, and it's been handy more than once!

I don't tolerate lots of the meds for scans, mainly because they have added junk that isn't needed. The new, good-tasting barium now has flavoring agents and saccharine.

I had a stress test a few months ago and a tilt table test. I didn't have the adrenaline with the stress test but I did with the tilt table test. I had a pretty bad headache from it and it did make my Fibro a bit worse for the day but nothing like what you experienced. Do you know what they gave you?

They gave me persantine. I have an appointment with my PCM tomorrow. Hoping she can give me some more info. First ER doctor said it could be a side effect, but the second one dismissed the whole thing. I'm still feeling sick and can't eat anything.
I will definitely keep it on a list though. Whether they think it's because of it or not, I don't wanna have to go through it again.

Wow, yes! I had a similar experience with the stress test. I had one in February. I have fibromyalgia. I knew I was going to have a problem if I walked the treadmill, but I did not want to have the med to stimulate my heart. So, I had a regular stress test, then a nuclear one. So I did the treatmill twice. I thought I wa going to die! I had such bad pain all over my body. I beleive it was from the stress on my body. I was very nervious during both tests.  I still am having problems from the stress of the test. It left me with IBS too. I hope you are feeling better:)

Wow what a horrible reaction to a stress test, one of my specialists told my GP that I needed to have a stress test done and when I asked him about it he said there was no way I could do this his exact words were Rose it will probably kill you.

My sister is on the hosp and they just did one on her they injected her with something, she is undergoing massive testing as she suffers from chronic pancreatitis and while in hosp she tried to get up to use the washroom and her left side was unresponsive. Since she lives more than 300 miles away I have to rely on bro-in-law to translate things to me and he was very upset but today he said she is up and responding normally, hmmmm.

I guess we will find out soon if she has more wrong with her than the pancreatitis
