Hello Mrsyecker!
Nice to meet you and welcome to the Fibro Family. I'm not sure you can totally prevent flares but you should be able to lessen them by being very watchful. Karen has some great ideas that can help.
I think for me the best way to avoid flares is to plan life and try to stick to it. I know it's not an easy thing to do but by planning you should be able to avoid much of the stress of everyday life and avoid introducing stress to your body. Any type of 'insult' your body receives can make the fibro go wild! Keep your muscles, especially the ones that hurt the most, warm and well stretched out each day. Stiff and cold muscles are a sure trip to a flare.
And last of all...get plenty of rest. Take a nap in the afternoon if you feel like it. Around my house the dust and dishes always seem to wait for me if I take an afternoon snooze. Maybe I should nap a bit longer...lol
I hope you find some tips that help you and keep in touch, OK?
