can anyone recommend a good frozen dinner?

I never thought I, the health food nut, would be asking this! I'm having surgery tomorrow and coming home the next day. My husband is working very long days doing construction and I am trying to think of easy meals that he can fix for himself and for me when I come home. I will have to be taking it very easy for a few days. I have never bought a frozen dinner but I think it would be the best for a few days. Any suggestions. I plan to have fresh veggies(carrots and celery) peeled and washed in the fridge before I leave and also lettuce washed and torn up. So a salad will go with the dinner. Thanks.

I keep some frozen dinners in the freezer for emergencies.  I do like the Stouffers things...expecially the turkey dinner with cornbread dressing and mashed potatoes.  I add a veggie and it's good.  I like the Salisbury steak with macaroni and cheese and also their meatloaf with mashed potatoes,  too.  They have a big selection and they are all quite good.  I stock my freezer when they have a sale.  My daughter likes these for her lunch occasionally, too.  I've found them to be as close to home-cooked.  Oh, their chicken dinners are good, too!

I'm going to the store in a little while and I'll stock up on some of these. I don't want my husband to have to cook after working a 12 hour day. Actually, I think I'll I try one of these tonight for him. I am on a clear liquid diet all day today and I don't want to be tempted when I am preparing a full dinner for him. I'm already starving and it's only a little after 10:00 here. cry

Good luck on surgery tomorrow. We ladies are all the same, making sure our family is taken care of first. What would they do without us?

I hope all goes well for you, not only during the surgery but also during your recovery/recuperating.
There are frozen dinners by Amy's, some are vegetarian, now that I think of it, they all might be, and they are VERY healthy, very conscious of salt, fat, etc. There definitely are others but I can't think of the name of them right now. It really depends if your husband or you have any restrictions...salt intake, etc. Some of the prepared entrees are loaded with salt. Weight Watchers are excellent, but may not be enough for your husband.
Again, I wish you the best of luck...do you still have your Golden Retriever? If so, he/she will be such a comfort for you during your recuperation...

Thanks everyone.

My surgery should go great. It's actually less involved than I thought it was going to be. I thought I was getting a mesh sling to lift my bladder. I was worried because I know there have been lots of problems with these. Because I have never had any surgery for the dropped bladder the surgeon is just going to use sutures to repair the damaged done by childbirth many years ago. Those 9 and half lb. babies sure do some damage. devil

Yes Miriam I still have my Golden. She is 4 now and has calmed down quite a bit. I still would like to use her as a therapy dog to visit nursing homes/hospitals. I do take her into stores and work with her but she was so excitable as a young dog. I talked to one of the trainers that does the testing and she said they would help me with training if she flunks the first test. This is after I heal of course.

Thanks all. My husband will be eating lots of easy to fix meals this next week.
