I could really use some positive thoughts today.

Hi all,

I have been withdrawing from my breakthrough oxy's for a week and I am back to where I was 2 years ago so no pain control. I continue to do stretches and try to walk but in honesty I hurt far too much to do them as well and as long as I was.

I am so miserable because just 2 weeks ago I was walking, gardening, cleaning, swimming, playing with my grandchildren. Currently I hurt so bad I don't even drive anymore I lent my vehicle to my daughter so she can pick me up things I need.

The reason for this is my primary doctor went on holidays and his replacement would not renew my prescription for my break through oxy's so not only do I have the pain but I have been withdrawing. I have an appt with my real doctor today and I am going to discuss my medications with him.

My pain level today is around 7 and fluctuates to 8.5 so as I said in my post title I really could use some positive thoughts.

Rose, I'm sorry you are having this problem.  They should leave info for their nurse or whoever is taking their place so this doesn't happen.  I'm sure if they were suffering from chronic pain they would remember for themselves.

 

The good news is you are seeing them today and can get the meds you need.  You should be feeling much better in a hurry!

I'm sorry Rose, that you had to suffer like that. I wonder why the doctor would not give you your meds. I mean I know he was covering for your doctor, but geesh, to see a patient suffer that long, a chronic pain patient at that, is very sad.

I know you will be feeling well soon, since you have an appointment with YOUR doctor today. I await to hear what he says. Hang in there.

My Dr did give me back the pain meds and said the other Dr made a note regarding my use of oxycodone and felt I needed a referral to a different pain management Dr due to that. My Dr said he will be talking to him as it has taken years to finally get pain management, he said I am a complicated case and the other Dr had no idea.

The good news my Dr is taking another holiday but he wrote out 2 months worth of pain meds so hopefully I don't have this issue again. I am feeling more controlled today just in time to watch my granddaughters while my daughter goes in for surgery.

I too have gone thru withdrawals because staff did not call in refills on time over holiday weekends. I wrote a letter to the Board of the hospital and The pain clinic found something, a loophole in my contract(contract??? I didn't know this was a BUSINESS arrangement, I thought it was about helping people) and dumped me just like that. Cold turkey-bad news. I hate that a drug or somebody has so much control over you- It sounds like you have a good doc-hope you feel better soon
