So am wondering if this could be a fibro issue.. I seem to get these headaches that start over/behind one eye and then spread across my head. They last 2 days at a time where I go to bed with the headache and wake up with it, and it continues until later that day... is it just me?

Also, if anyone else has these, what have you found that helps? No pain med (tramadol, advil, tylenol) works for them... they disappear as easily as they appear... I did have a brain MRI last year where I was told that many widespread areas of white flair appeared on the results that could indicate migraines or MS. I had never had these headaches before then... they only started in the last 6 months...

I have been a migraine sufferer for 44 years. They were mostly during my menstrual cycle. They were one side of my head, hurt severely and many times I threw up. I would go to bed with them and awaken with them. Now that I am past menopause my headaches have changed to begin with pain in my neck and working its way up to the top of my head. I have had headaches last as long as 17 days and I prayed to be put out of my misery. I have tried every drug and what works best for me is Excedrin migraine with a small cup of soda (coke) if I catch the headache early. If I don't catch it early, fiorinal with codiene is the only drug to knock out a migraine with no bad side effects. Taking magnesium daily has helped and I don't get the migraines as frequently. I have heard CoQ10 helps to keep migraines away and I do take that as well. I feel for you. Hope you find what works for you.

I wondered if they were related to hormones. I'm on HRT due to surgical menopause but have been for 3 years now and the headaches only started in the last 6 months. No doses have changed.

I can't take aspirin due to colitis. I am allergic to codeine. I will have to figure something out. Can't take magnesium either or it messes with colon (speeds things up too fast). I haven't tried coq10. Will look it up. I have never been told it could be migraines though my mom has had them her whole life. I thought migraines started when you were young and kept going for life. I don't see why they'd start in my 40s....

I suffered from migraines before and I was Amazed how well depokote help so much. My neurologist gave it to me. But depokote comes with side effects. You have to see and out weigh the risk.

Yes...I get them often around my period especially the last several years...

Yep, hormonal. I am now on the type of birth control where you no longer have periods, but I still have a break thru headache when I ought to be menstruating. I cannot do anti-inflammatories on a regular basis, either. But I use naproxen or Goody's Headache powders when the head rears it's ugly ache. I don't take more than a few doses, so it doesn't over effect the colon.

Turned out it was likely hormones... just had labs and estrogen dropped to 15. Trying to get it back up and with more estrogen, no more headaches... they say the headache comes with the dropping estrogen level....

You mentioned you were in your 40's? I just wanted to mention, be careful of any sort of HRT since you have Uc. Uc increases the risk of blood clots, add a hormone in and being over 35 doubles/triples that risk.

Sherry, have never heard that UC raises the risk of blood clots. Never. No drs have ever mentioned that to me. I have to use HRT... otherwise no hormones produced her. Yes, in my 40s.

I know, you are darned if you do and darned if you don't in regards to HRT. My primary put me on progesterone to help with my cycles and when my GI found out about it, he about flipped his lid. If you do a search, you will find that blood clots are another lovely thing that we have to be careful of.
