Just looking for a possible common threat.
How much accumulative use of tylenol, advil, asprin, etc over the years have you had?
Starting back in my teenage years I used Tylenol monthly for cramps. This went on for several years until I discovered Advil worked better. I then began using it (only when needed for cramps and head aches) about
1 to 2 times a day only 2 or 3 times a month. Over the years it got to the point that only 3 to 4 tablets at a time would do anything for me. After having children I didn't have nearly the cramps as before.
I tend to not take anything unless absolutely necessary (which more often than not is too late) but when necessary still would take 3 or 4 tablets for a headache.
However, in the past 10 years I've had a couple unexplained health issues that once the worst case (cancer) was ruled out and nothing else was found to be wrong I was told to stop taking any over the counter meds (Ibuprofen mostly). Apparently they carry an accumulative affect.
Most recently I went in for what I thought was a gallbladder attach, I've had these 1 to 2 times a year for over 8 years but they've began hitting much more often so went to Dr. to have it checked out. Of course they didn't think it was gallbladder so they did upper GI (ruled out acid reflux which I tried to tell them it was not) apparently I do have gall stones but they say showed now evidence of having been causing any blockage. Once again I left frustrated as they had nothing else to check except for thinking it was my use of advil (I had taken 4 tablets once a week for past 2 months to make it through P.T. on my frozen shoulder).
So, if the accumulative use of over the counter pain meds has truely caused these otherwise un-diagnosed symptoms... could it also be what has triggered my fibro?
Sorry for the long post for a simple question but thanks for trying to follow my thoughts
