Hi, Miss Annie, and welcome! I'm glad you found us and joined our family. I think I remember seeing your area on the news. Going through a tornado had to be horrible and I'm sure didn't help you one bit, physically. Stress causes more pain with fibro.
Your situation is difficult because of the lack of doctors. Are you near a city that might have a teaching hospital? There are usually great doctors there. You do have to find a doctor that treats patients with fibromyalgia...just in case you do have it. You see, many of our symptoms are like those of other illnesses so we have to go through a lot of testing to rule out those illnesses before a diagnosis of fibro is given. So, really check out the doctor before making an appointment. Many here use a rheumatologist.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. Good starting links are called Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. You might just see yourself there.
Read posts, too, and get ideas as to what you can do in the meantime. It is good to keep moving with fibro. Walking is a good daily exercise...and cheap! Start out slowly and try to go a little further each day. It really does help with those weak and painful legs. Pacing yourself helps, too. Moist heat helps many, too. Quite a few members have a Bed Buddy. You can get these at Walgreens and other places and you pop them in the microwave and they give off moist heat. Anyway, read and get ideas.
By the way, could you please use a regular font? Your large, bold print was so difficult for me to read! Thanks, in advance!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
