I accomplished something pretty big

I am paying the price today for accomplishing something yesterday. I can barely believe I did this. The driver's side winow of our car went down but would not go up. It was stuck & we had rain and cold weather coming. Plus, you can't just tape a trash bag on a driver's side window - you HAVE to be able to look left!

Well, I Googled the problem & found that we needed what is called a "window regulator" - it's somewhat like an elevator with a motor & that is how your electric car windows go up & down. I looked around to see how much it would cost to get repaired. It was very labor-intensive & would likely run $300-$800 to have repaired.

Well, we are brokity-broke-broke.

My husband works at night so he went to bed at 9 a.m.

I watched a YouTube video that was posted by a parts seller. The man shows how to take the door apart & what to do. I felt that I could give it a shot. By 9:30 a.m, I bought the part locally for $74. By 1 p.m, I was all done.

It was a lot messier than the guy in the video's experience. I did have help from a neighbor in putting the new regulator in, but I did all the rest of it myself.

My arms were burning deep inside but when you have a mission, you are driven. I took longer than most people would, I'm sure.

When my husband woke up, he didn't know I had fixed it. So I had some fun with him, asking him "Well, are you going to have time to work on the car before you go to work?" He was still sleepy & scratching his head. I continued, "or would you rather just go try it out right now & see that it's fixed?" I was lying on the couch (my hips were hurting, probably from my morning work on the car). . But I was pretty happy by what I had done so I didn't care about the pain very much! He said, "It works? Who did you get to do it & how. . ?"

I did it!

He went & picked up Subway sandwiches for us all for dinner & brought my sandwich to me on a plate while I was on the couch. That's the man-equivalent of "Yippeeee! Thank you!!!" -- I have many years of interpreting the man-language, that's how I knew what he was realllly saying lol!

That IS amazing!  You really are something, Apple!  LOL  Yes, you should be very proud of yourself and you saved yourself a heap of money, too.

 

I had to laugh when  you said you were "brokity broke broke".  I think we all fall into that catagory!

Wonderful job...you proved the old theory..."Where there is a will, there is a way". Great job, Apple, not too many would take on that task but you did and suceeded!!!

I got my wiper blades changed at the car parts place (installation was free) when I went to the store to buy the window part! They are tricky, it's not just you, Mamanan!

I did have a some fibrofog mess ups during the process. Having the video to refer to again and again really helped! I made sure to post a huge thsnk you to the company that put up the video -- what a blessing!

Thanks. My shoulders are killing me now. I don't know if it's related to the car repair or not. I have been thinking I would do it all again. I like to do things & feel useful.

Now, that's what I'm talkin' about!  The knob fell off the radio in the car a few weeks ago and I couldn't figure out how to screw it back on.  Good for you!
