I have had trigger point injections in my neck...not sure if it was lidocaine. I have used lidocaine pain patches though.
Wish I could be more help...

I do steriod shots in my hips about
every 2 years. It really does help. I never heard of lidocaine shots in trigger points before. Where are your trigger points?

I had a combination lidocaine and steroid shot into the back of my shoulder once because the pain was so bad. It seemed to improve that afternoon for a few hours, and for a couple days afterwards the pain wasn't as bad, but then it wore off. Of course, this was not a trigger point injection. Let us know how it works, okay?

I get weekly to bi-weekly shots of a similar local anesthetic called Marcaine. The shots help but some days they wear off quicker than others. I got some in my knees today and I can feel it's already worn off but other times my trigger points will be relieved up until or close enough to my next injection day. I generally get the injections done in my lower back into the gleuts, and in my neck, but sometimes I ask for my hands or knees.
At one point I couldn't sit properly without feeling like I was sitting on my tail-bone so my Rheumy gave me a steroid shot instead. That helped for a while and I may ask him to do my knees and hips again. I hope you are someone who can handle needles on an on-going basis. For real, you get used to it and let out 'ooohs' and 'aaahhhs' but it's worth it! The draining feeling of pain from your body is nice. I hope they get something more permanent like a cure soon though.
Good luck with your shots:D
