hi i started taking cymbalta 30mg  on weds 11th jan and im now feeling very sleepy and burry vision will this soon were of if i carry on taking the cymbalta.

The side effects continue for a couple of weeks. It takes six to eight weeks to reach it's full potential, so be patient. I truly hope cymbalta works for you. Do let us know how it goes.

I personally haven't had luck with these kinds of medications for fibromyalgia. But I take pristiq as an anti depressant and abilify as a mood stabilizer and I feel pretty good. I take norco for pain.

I really hope that this works for you. It does for many...

I just noticed that you are new and this was your first post... Welcome to the fibro forum. There is a thread called 'fibro 101', it is the second thread on the forum. Be sure to check it out. It is full of a lot of good info. Keep posting. I think you will like it here.

I was started on 30mg in November.  I had about 5 days of unpleasant symptoms. After that it worked very well.  After about 2 months my doctor increased it to 60mg and it took about 3 days to adjust.  It doesn't releive all my pain but it sure makes life easier.  My pain level is usually around a 4 now unless I am in a flare but even then it gets to about a 6.  Nothing like I used to have, a 7-8 all the time. My doctor wanted me on lyrica too but I had a very bad reaction to that.  If your symptoms continue after about 2 weeks or get worse instead of better over time call your doctor.  Not everyone can take the same meds.

Thanks for the feedback on cymbalta i was feeling very anxious and starting to worry but youve help put my mind at ease .

My symptoms were unpleasant for about 5 days, at about 10 days things were way better. I now take 90mg. Started at 30, then to 60, finally to 90. No unpleasant symptoms now, just major pain relief.

I started Cymbalta in October. After getting over the initial hurdle, I can say I'm managing my pain levels fairly well. Energy/fatigue levels are still like a roller-coaster, but that's expected with fibro. Good luck to you!

P.S. If you're concerned about your particular side effects, don't hesitate to get in touch with your doctor. He knows your individual situation and any other meds you might be on. If you think the blurred vision is from the Cymbalta, it wouldn't hurt to touch bases with him/her... just to be on the safe side.

I only took two doses of Cymbalta and it wired me and put me into like a manic state. I have never had mania before but I think that is what it feels like. I felt tired but my mind kept racing like I couldn't turn it off and it scared me so no more cymbalta for me.

There is no "Magic pill/capsule" unfortunately that'll make the pain, fatigue & depression away totally (at least not for me - Fibro & Lupus) ...With that said,I see a mountain of difference with & without Cymbalta. For me, it has made life bearable which it wasn't for awhile! Side effects mentioned are usually temporary & self-limiting. If you don't show a vast improvement in a few wks or if not bearable, be sure to contact your Dr. We are all so different! I couldnt tolerate Lyrical & yet some ppl swear by it! Listen to your own body!

I developed serotonin syndrom with Cymbalta. I am so scared of that drug. We react to meds so different. The main thing is listen to what your mind is telling you. Always call and let them know your concerns. Other medications are a huge factor in mixing some of these drugs.

You would be surprised that there are not a whole lot of drug-drug interactions! There is really a short list of offending agents BUT alot of meds have adverse drug reactions that can be from: A) annoying...to B) Bothersome & C) deadly/toxic!
With all of us being so vastly different, the future of Medicine is Individualized Dosing!
I think that will be interesting - hope I live long enough to see it to fruition! :)

I am on Cymbalta, and it was prescribed for the fibro pain. It doesn't touch that, but helps immensely with my depression. Withdrawals are really nasty, though, so do try to make sure you have a constant supply...that there are no doctor/pharmacy/health insurance miscommunications.

Hopefully your side effects don't last long and that Cymbalta helps with your fibro pain. Again, welcome to the forum.

Dizziness seems to be the side effect of many drugs. I haven
t tried cymbalta but got very dizzy and had a few falls while on the med. Obviously stopped that med.

You mentioned that 'wired' feeling. That's exactly how I felt the first time I took an antidepressant. I was so wired that night when I tried to sleep. My legs were jumping and jolting way worse than usual. I couldn't understand how this was supposed to "help" me. I called my doctor and he said it's not unusual to experience that feeling at first, but to try to give if a chance if I could. It wasn't long and the 'wired' feeling was gone and I felt like a new person. Unfortunately, the zoloft led to massive weight gain which I have spent years trying to battle now.

Most recently I have been prescribed Cymbalta and that hasn't been leading to a weight gain, and as I said above, I'm doing pretty well with it (but if I don't take it in the morning I feel more wired at night than I would prefer).

I have read good things and bad things. I think that the drugs that can take has a lot to do with our own chemical make up. You can get a 30 day trail script of Cymbalta. Cymbalta went GENERIC for those of you who were not told. I still take 90 mg daily and it still helps me.

In the past Cymbalta provided me with the most pain relief of any medicine I've experienced so far, it started to diminish after several months.

More interestingly were the side effects Cymbalta triggered. The nausea and blurry vision were expected, what was not was an INCREASE IN MUSCLE ACHES.

You'd think a drug that is supposed to help your muscles aches wouldn't have a side effect of muscle aches right? Wrong, I looked this up online cause I was in an abnormal amount of pain (even for me) and I was hurting in bizarre areas I normally don't have pain.

What would you know? Other people reported having muscular pain from Cymbalta. This subsided in the first two or so weeks, but have mercy, this was the drug I've had the most intense side effects from.

I had the same experience as Sean in that it really helped at first, but the help diminished significantly after several months. I decided to go off it, and it was not easy. Make sure you get help from your doctor if you try to go off it as it needs to be titrated slowly…and even then, it threw me for a loop for several months.
