Hi. I hope everyone is doing well. I posted on another forum but got few responses so I though I would try here.

I hope that I posted in the right place, I am also posting in RA just incase. I have been suffering from pain in joints and muscles for a couple years. Here are my symptoms:

-Joint pain in knees and hips (popping)
-Had Xray's, MRI and all the blood tests done for my knees, all normal doctor diagnosed as chondromalacia.
-Went to physio for chondromalacia, after months of uneffective treatment, the physio said he did not think it was chondromalacia.
-Intense unbearable burning in the muscles in my neck, shoulders and legs.
-Frequent headaches (average about 4 per week) and occasionally migraines.
-Difficult to walk down stairs (I avoid them) It hurts my knees but also I cannot walk as fast as everyone else and when I try to, it's like my legs don't cooperate.
-Sometimes I get tremors in my hands.
-Feeling off balance sometimes.

My question for everyone is, a doctor suggested I see a rheumatologist, even though I saw an orthapedic surgeon that said it was chondromalacia. Would seeing a rheumatologist help, seeing as bloodwork and MRI were normal? Also, should I see a neurologist instead? Any help is truly appreciated, and I am thankful I found this forum, it helped me through my gastrointestinal diagnoses process and everyone here is very understanding and supportive!

Hi, Social, and welcome!  I'm glad you popped over here for a little help.  Yes, I would see a rheumatologist.  With fibro patients, our tests come out just fine, too.  But a rheumy is quite familiar with fibro as well as RA and other rheumatic problems.  Be sure to ask if they treat fibromyalgia patients, though, because there still are a few doctors out there that are in the Dark Ages about this illness.  If you don't have fibro, you still have a good doctor.

 

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are links about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  Good starting links are called Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  This will help you see if this might be happening to you, too.

Hi Social, 

and yes, please see a rheumatologist,  my doctor did not believe I had fibro, but sent me to a rheumatologist anyway.  First visit my rheumy confirmed it for me. I am sorry you are going thru all this.  It can be scary with the tremors and other symptoms to not know what is really causing it.  Good luck and hugs
