I have a dear friend from high school who now lives over 600 miles away. Recently I decided to share my diagnosis with her because there is a chance we might be able to visit when I go there for a wedding in a couple of weeks. This is what she wrote:
"I confess that I had to look up fibromyalgia, and I was horrified. Aside from the pain, it sounds like the docs don't know much in the way of cause or cure. I can't believe everything you have gone through. You are amazing!"
My heart soars at the idea that she actually went to the trouble to look it up and that she believes me!!

Hi Joy~
You have a lovely and treasured friend. What a blessing for you. I'm afraid to say that more often it's the opposite that we find. Hopefully as the word spreads about
what Fibro is then more and more of us will get letters like yours.
Hugs,

What a beautiful gift you have in that friend. Hug her tightly and don't ever let her get away!
I am smiling with genuine joy that you are blessed to have someone so wonderful in your life.

Wow that is great. It is nice to know there are people out there willing to take time and try to understand something that they don't or may have never heard of. Friends can have a positive influence on us. It's nice to know you have someone to help support you emotionally.

Sounds like your friend is a keeper. Half of my own family does not believe in fibromyalgia and think I just need to get up and exercise and to change my diet. You are so very lucky to have such a wonderful friend.

this must have really made your day! What a thoughtful person to have actually looked it up. We should all be so lucky to have friends like that.

Hang onto her and ask her if she has room for a few more friends in her life (a whole group of fibro friends LOL!!)
Beautiful. You must be beautiful as well.

You must be really happy to have someone understand what you are going through.

That is really loving of her to do ....
I have friends who have done that too.
My sister said she did.. but I beg to differ on that.
also she says she knows people who have it and keep on with their lives..
which ticks me off. shows me she doesnt really read up on it..
even my former boss read up on it........

Hang on to your friend! She sounds wonderful. I'm 66 and I met my friend on the playground when we were 10. She still is there for me.
