Hi Everyone,

My sister just shared with me that she takes Meloxicam. She has a sit down job and she has stopped getting knee pain since she began this medication. I guess it's for arthritis. She doesn't have any health issues except the pain she use to get in her knees. I was just curious if Meloxicam has helped anyone with their fibro pain and if they had any side effects from it.

Meloxicam is the generic of Mobic. Mobic is a once a day version of ibuprophen. It is designed to give continual relief with only one pill. Because it is one pill it is also gentler on the stomach. I would recommend taking it with food just in case there may be some stomach upset. I have tried both, the mobic and ibuprophen. I prefer the ibuprophen because I only want to take something when I feel I need it versus the everyday (have too) pill.

I find that it does help with the aches of arthritis, and possibly with the fibro, but not for the burning muscle type aches. I find tramadol and flexeril helps more for that type ache.

I was on Mobic (meloxicam) at one time for my arthritis and did not find any relief for fibro...we are all differant though.

Meloxicam is an antinflammatory med and fibro does not cause inflammation...with fibro we just feel like there is inflammation going on. Fibro does not cause any damage to our tissues...muscles or joints but it sure can feel like it.

I take it, and it does help quite a bit.  I went off of it for a month because they were doing tests on my liver, and I could really tell the difference.  My liver is fine, and I am back on it.

Mobic is a drug I take when my fibro pain gets bad. It does work effectively for me, but it does have stomach pain side effects when taken for too long. My doctor warned me about these side effects and asked me to only take it when needed and not for more than seven days at a time.
