I have been taking Ibuprofen for 20+ years. It works well for me but I know it doesn't for many with fibro. Like so many other drugs, it doesn't lose effectiveness and isn't addicting. I worry about
ulcers but so far have dodged the bullet. I tried an SSRI/benzo combo a few years ago and the side effects were worse than the disease, plus withdrawing was a nightmare.
I don't know why doctors are so quick to assume that just because Ibuprofen works we must not have fibro. It is a painkiller...used for headaches, menustral cramps, toothache, fever and flu aches and pains. None of those things are inflammatory yet it relieves the pain.
If it does the job I would just take it and not analyze why. So little is known about fibro, including what causes it.
