Armpit area pain?

Cali, you've just lived my last month minus the spider bite. Neuro-surgeon thinks it's from C5/6 and C6/7 now abutting ( love that word ) the spinal cord while the regular Neuro thinks it's from Fibro. Just the fact that it is traveling makes me wonder if it is NOT the bite. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

FishChris.....just how did you kick butt on Fibro?

Yrsilly, thank you. Sorry to hear you are having similar symptoms as me. Not having any definite answers is the worst! And getting different opinions from different doctors is pretty crappy as well. I forgot to mention I've been feeling weak and dizzy in the last month or so, but I suppose that could be MS related. Also been experiencing a lot of anxiety and insomnia. Not too surprising since I am freaking out with worry. The thing that scares me is most of my soreness is in areas where lymph nodes are. I don't notice any swelling, although the front/sides of my neck feel a little swollen. My husband doesn't notice any swelling, and neither did the doctor when I mentioned it to him. ::sigh::

Hi again, Deepwell. Thank you for the links! :-) As a matter of fact, I do have many of the fibro symptoms. I have also wondered about thyroid issues and so did the urgent care doc that I saw back in early December. He ordered a few different thyroid blood tests, all which came back within normal ranges. However, I have read that it all depends on the lab on results! I am just thoroughly confused as you can imagine - not knowing what exactly is going on with me. I literally can drive myself crazy by googling medical issues that I think I may have!

I certainly will keep you informed on anything I may or may not find out. Thanks for the reply!

I have been getting pain under my left arm pit lately. Intermititenly. Its more of a sharp stabbing pain.

I do have the same symtoms too, armpit pain  on and off for awhile now, doctor said nothing wrong, now it's getting worser ....the pain is every day travelling to half arm and side breast and , go to my upper back, shouder and groins and buttock area.....I went to get MRI done, last week. Waiting for the result.

I haven't read every post on this thread, but enough to know that some people are describing swollen lymph nodes in their armpits down into their arms with a tight feeling. Have any of your doctors ever mentioned lymphedema? It can be a side effect of chemo, if you've ever had cancer. My friend from high school has breast cancer and has developed lymphedema from the chemo. She has what feel like really tight "cords" in the area from her armpit towards her elbows. There is treatment for it and there are also compression garments you can wear. Here is some more info:

My cousin has lymphedema in her legs and has to do the compression therapy every night.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 9 years ago, after an accident shattered my tibia. The doctor could not understand why I was not healing at the rate of his other patients and why I was so sore to the touch. After a bout of bursitis, in my left shoulder, my family doctor realized I had fibromyalgia, and had me tested. He was correct and it was good to know that I was not just a cry baby. Since then, I have learned not to get stressed, because that will bring a "flare" on. Not sure if you guys know what a flare is, but it happens when you are hurting/sore all of a sudden. I woke up this morning with the beginning of a flare - both sides of my ribs hurt, from my armpits to my hips. I am about to have knee replacement surgery and I think I might be a little anxious about that, so it is causing a flare.

It is good to learn to recognize when you are having a flare, because it reduces your anxiety and you know it is temporary (for me anyway). My best advise would be to learn your body, learn what you can about fibromyalgia and it's symptoms and get a doctor who believes it exists & understands.

Also, to my knowledge, no blood tests, x-rays, or CT scans can detect fibro. There are 18 pain points on the body and a doctor who know about it can test you for them. They will pick spots that are NOT fibro related to make sure you are not faking it. As it turned out, I have 13 of the 18 pain points. Amazingly, it is rare for me to hurt, since I have been on Lyrica & Cymbalta - but if I miss a dose, you can bet I will have a flare. Sadly, Lyrica & Cymbalta do not work for everyone, but I am blessed that my body responds to it.

I pray some of this post will be helpful to some of you and you can understand what your body is doing and know that it IS real.

I get this horrible feeling in that area, like right in or below the armpit area. It moves through the muscle up around my shoulder and across my chest. It feels like I've been shot or someone is stabbing me with a red hot poker. I have no idea why it happens I just wish it would stop.

I know this is an old thread but I am new. I was diagnosed with fibro a couple of years ago. I found this thread after googling the symptoms.  I am going on my second week with this pain and am currently up at 2am out of fear it's my heart, something serious with my lymph nodes, etc.  I would not wish this on anyone but am glad I am not alone and may actually get some sleep knowing it could just be a flare up.

My pain is on my left arm, by my armpit. But it is also my upperarm, feeling as though someone is squeezing it, turning it to a numb feeling. Does anyone experience this?

Hi, I just woke up and suddenly I have this pain in my left armpit and I think its boil but then I see no face for a boil so I checked online and saw this post which has been helpful but now I feel feverish and I ache all over but am hoping it is boil and malaria :-) Did any of u feel feverish when u first noticed the pain?

I was so glad to find this post. I have been suffering from some of these same symptoms. Especially the burning pain in the armpit and left side area. I've been very concerned about what the root cause could be. I have my first doctors appointment soon to discuss my symptoms although I'm seeing now from these posts I may not get a quick answer:(

I've had this for a long time. It's gotten worse in the past few years. I find it flares when I use old razors and use certain deodorants on it. After reading this, I believe it is part of the fibro.

I just found this forum after a very frustrating 6 months of "we don't know." I still have no diagnosis, but found myself saying "Yes, i have that!" as I read the above posts.

No one has mentioned fibromyalgia to me yet, but I'm wondering if I should bring it up? It started with pain in my right armpit, and they felt a 4mm lump. Ultrasound and mammo showed "nothing abnormal." It then moved to both pain in both armpits, and the pain extending down the underside of my bicep a few inches. Not quite a burning feeling, but not a muscle pain either. Then my groin -- but not really the groin, more very upper thigh near the groin. Then I knew I was losing it (!!!!) when I had the same pain at the back of my legs, right near where the thigh and butt meet. Then the back of the knees ... and I swear it has been in the crease of my elbow (where they draw blood) a few times in the last week.

On top of this, I developed a large "mass" in my left breast that is tender to the touch. Ultrasound showed "nothing suspicious," but I have an appointment with a breast surgeon next week for further eval.

When I've mentioned the pain going from my armpit down the underside of my bicep and in the back of my thighs, they look at me like I'm nuts. Do you have suggestions for who I should see next? I assume a rheumatologist. But I don't want to "exclude" other issues if this is not an auto-immune problem. All blood work has come back 100% normal.

I am so scared and so frustrated and so mad! My symptoms are just getting worse and no one can tell me what the heck is going on. Any advice for next steps would be much appreciated!!!

Welcome, M in CA and Jen. (Jen and Dee, I don't know how you slipped through the cracks for so long - especially you, Dee! We try not to miss people, but once in a while, it happens.) Wow, I just realized Tymibe and Supermama wrote even longer ago. Well, welcome to you, too, if you're still around!

I'm afraid I can't help you with this question, but let me direct you all to our 1st thread, Fibro 101. It has links to all kinds of great information. There are so many odd possible symptoms with this condition, it's crazy!

And, it would be a good idea for you each to start your own introductory thread, with something indicating you're new in the title. That way, more people will notice you, and will stop by to greet you. Such a wide variety of experiences we have, and usually there are plenty of people who can relate to any question. We're here to help eachother, so I hope you'll keep posting.

I could have written some of these posts. I'm looking for answers and they really hit home.

A few months ago I strained my shoulder and that is quite a bit better now, but I have a pain deep inside my armpit of the hurt arm and it swells sometimes around the armpit and the pain does radiate to my breast too and a bity down the arm, not to the elbow however.

Last week I had an ultrasound in the armpit area and a diagnostic mammogram and both were good, there wasn't anything wrong. So I went for a check-up yesterday and no answers, but the Doc I saw is having a surgeon who does, among other things, breast surgery, have a look and feel around too.

I also have good days and BAD days, this has only been going on for a few weeks now, but it sure doesn't seem to want to go away. I am just at the end of my Physical Therapy sessions for my strained shoulder and I have cut myself back to gentle exercise now.

Ice seems to help it, also when the swelling first started I used warm washrags and that helped a bit.

I'm trying not to obsess about this, but it is worrisome. so far Aleve is helping a lot, but I don't want to start eating them like jellybeans.

I'll be 62 in June and am looking forward to retirement in another year, but now I am just looking forward to trying to get rid of this pain. sometimes it is a burning pain i have quite using my regular deodorant and have some natural roll on that doesn't bother it.

I have this pain under both arms about 1/3 down from armpits. It is also on my side and navigates towards my nipple but doesn't get there. The pain feels like a needle poking in my skin about 1.5" long and maybe it moves a little. It doesn't travel up and down but across parallel with the floor if I was standing. If I press now there is no pain but if I feel tenderly I can feel the pain just waiting to flair. It doesn't happen if I'm lifting something heavy buy more when I'm adjusting my weight slightly. Maybe undoing my pants would cause the pain to flare up for only a second or two then it diminishes and goes away almost as fast as it came. If I started doing pushups I don't think I'd feel anything. Weird I know and I know the Drs are going to scratch their heads on this one. I feel so thankful I found this blog so I might find out what it is?

I haven't seen any new post on this since December. I was wondering if it is under a different heading now. I just want to see how everyone is coming along with this. Mine gets a little better then if I exercise it starts up again. Weird that burning feeling and sort of strained muscle feel. I've stopped wearing a regular type of bra and just like a cami so nothing pressing on those nerves and it seems to have helped a bit but still the difference between my left side and my right side is literally like night and day.
