I went to see the rheumatologist today. He has confirmed what my PCP diagnosed a few years ago, I DO have Fibromyalgia. OH MY!! What a surprise!
LOL!
He also recommended Gabapentin for the pain, and wanted me to switch from Zoloft to Cymbalta, which I refused of course. I'm not going to stop taking a med that works good for me and try something that might not work at all. I'm thinking of taking the Gabapentin though. He told me to talk with my psychiatrist first, because supposedly they don't like other doctors "messing around" and adding meds to what they already have prescribed. I go to her on the 23rd of this month, so we'll see what she says.
Anyway, he said that since i'm having issues with Social Security, and my lawyer and I are gearing up for an appeal hearing, he wants me to go have some bloodwork done just to rule out Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Which he said he doubts that I have either, but it wouldn't hurt to be checked anyway. He did not suggest any X-rays or MRI's. But he did tell me that the bloodwork is a bit expensive for people that are "self pay". As long as it's cheaper than the $750 I would have spent on an MRI, i'm fine with that. LOL!
He did the whole pressure point test, some range of motion things, and asked me a million and one questions before "formally" diagnosing me.
So there you have it folks, TWO docs confirming I have Fibromyalgia. Let's see what other tricks Social Security has up their sleeve now.....
Just thought i'd update you all on my appointment today.
