Patient Assistance for the Lidoderm Patch

I have a doctors appointment this afternoon and I plan on talking to him about getting a prescription for the lidoderm patch (we had talked about it before and I had declined a prescription due to the cost, and not having prescription coverage). I was on the pharmaceutical company's website looking for patient assistance programs and there is nothing offered by the company, however they had a few other options on their web psite. I filled out my information for a few of the other so called "discount programs" and to my dismay received a number of phone calls yesterday about it and they all wanted my social security number which I refuse to give over the phone.

I am hoping perhaps somebody has been in the same situation I am at the moment and could offer some advice.

I would ask the dr if he has some samples that you can try. My dr. is very good at giving samples. In fact, he has refused to give me an RX for my blood pressure medicine and has given it to me in sample form for a year now. ;)

I seem to recall reading somewhere, have no link to back it up, that Lidoderm patches would soon go generic. (I use the patches, but my dr. suggested that I cut them up and use them all over my back area. This allows relief and extends how many patches I use. I can wear them for up to 12 hours, so it really helps extend the patches.)

I hope you find a solution. They have been a huge help since I do not like to take narcotics because of how my body reacts to them. (I wait until I absolutely can't stand the pain before I pull out the tramadol.)

I went to Lidoderms site, printed a card good for 24 uses, and $30 off.

It is going generic in Nov, not much help now

Thank you for the suggestions. I posted about the patches coming out in generic form next month but of course that always depends on lawsuits, patient extensions etc. I did find a form which my doctor had no problem filling out and his nurse offered to look it over and take care of mailing it for me. I also filled out the patient assistance form for Savella so I am hoping to get some good news soon. The patches work better at times for me than taking pain medication and they are so much safer so I am really hoping to get approved.

What all can you use lidoderm for? It looks like it's meant for shingles pain (http://www.rxwiki.com/lidoderm), but I think it could be used for things as well. What have you used it for?

I use them for just about anything that hurts. They can be cut into smaller pieces, makes them last longer. I use them for PN in my feet, achey arthritic knees and shoulder, and last spring, on a fresh incision post op pain. Never had shingles, supposed to be good for that too.

Great med, I hope it has gone generic by now.
