nono god vening everyone.
i was looking for help with my family and friends.i am in terrible pain and depresion and all they say it,s in my head.
my children are just now relizing after a year how this has changed my life.
how do you get everyone to realize this is real ? they see the pain.....i just don,t understand what it,s going to take.

Hi Kathy, welcome to the forum....I'm sorry for your pain...we understand pain here...you are not alone.

I'm sorry you are not getting support from family and friends. Unless a person walks in our shoes, it is very hard to understand what we are going through. When people ask me to describe it, I usually say it is relentless fatigue with allover achiness and if I'm flaring,,,it's bone crushing pain. Most people will never understand, but if they know you are hurting, that should be enough to want to help you.

Maybe one of your kids could go along with you to the doc and let him explain it. Having fibro should have your family rethinking their responsibilities and what they can do to help. Everyone needs to help more when Mom is feeling bad.....don't be afraid to ask for help and assign daily chores.

Take time to read fibro 101, the second thread near the top of the page. There is a link to the Spoon Theory....that would be good to hand out to family and friends. You shouldn't have to have the added frustration of your loved ones not helping, Keep communicating your feelings, hopefully some positive change will come about.

Let me add that if you take someone with you to a doctor make sure it's a doctor that's very familiar with fibromyalgia like a rheumatologist.

I have had fibro for many years. My husband still doesn't get it, sorry to say. My friends have accept it. I now feel left out sometimes because they don't ask me anymore to go places due to my limitations. If you have kids especially in the house. Sit down with them and explain your limitations and what you need from them. I struggle myself with this subject.
