Spoolbus,
I'm afraid I must concur with the rest - not ever pain-free, but vast differences in the AMOUNT of pain I'm in at any given time. You mentioned your neck and shoulder pain getting a bit better; that's how my Fibro started as well, and that also faded into the background. It's always there if I touch that area, or move it too much, or lift my arms. If I aggravate it, it's there. It's just that it's not the loudest pain anymore.
Now that's my sciatic nerve area...lots of parallels with you, actually! Of course, I'm recovering from disc surgery, so that makes sense...I really like my physical therapist, and she's usually realistic in her expectations of me so far. I am getting stronger, and moving more, which makes me VERY happy!
Since you're a massage therapist, I'm curious to know if you get massages yourself. I have never been able to afford to go often enough to get gradually deeper, and I couldn't handle even the light kind too well, so haven't really explored massage. But yesterday, my therapist pushed down on my butt and I felt immediate relief on the sciatic area, where I've felt constant pain and/or numbness for many years (even before my disc ruptured) - about
a quarter-sized area. Hours later, I still felt good in a way I'm not used to - dare I call it - increased energy??
As Angel said, the pieces will start falling into place after awhile. Never all of them, but enough so that life resumes some normalcy.
And we are always here for you.
