Okay this is really weird & I wondered if it is part of fibromyalgia? For the past several days I have had a stinging/burning sensation in my right breast. It comes & goes but it is painful. Yesterday I didn't notice it much until I took my bra off & then I got it again.

I am 50 and haven't had a period in at least 2 years. I did have pretty bad fibrocystic breast disease & had 3 fibroadenomas removed (age 16, 30, 45). I am assuming it can't be the fibrocystic breast stuff because I haven't had any pain in the last year or so.

Any idea? Thanks in advance;)

I get breast pain on and off in my left breast...it feels as though it is clamped down in a mammogram machine. I do regular self exams and get a mammo done each year. It was found that I do have a fibroadenoma in that breast, which is strange for a 60 year old. I attribute the pain to fibro...I've had it sporadically for a long time. A few years back they did a biopsy in that breast and they placed a titatanium marker in there. No one seemed to be concerned about it...so I don't worry. Just a few days ago, it was bothering me and now I feel nothing. Who knows?

I'd ask a doctor about that, just to be sure. I've had Fibro a long time with none of those symptoms but everyone is different. A while back I was having stinging, burning pain in my nipples and was kinda freakin out about it. Turns out it was from where I had piercings when i was younger. Imagine how silly I felt, but at least I knew I was ok.

Nothing beats going to the Dr. on this subject. Sometimes it's hard for dr's to distinguish between the fibro lumps and cancerous lumps. I know sometimes I will get these pains in my breast, but all it showed on the mammogram was fibro tissue. These days there are a lot of places that offer free mammograms.

I'd go in just to be safe to my gyn. It could even be something to do with menopause...

But I am a tad young for menopause so I dont fully know. I do get hot flashes though - from high doses of prednisone.

Thanks everyone. I did have a mammogram about 3 months ago. Because of the fibroadenomas I have to get mammograms more frequently. It was the first time they didn't have to do a billion views. I had "dense" breasts so it was hard for them to get good views (they also watched some lumps as well). Now they don't feel dense at all anymore.

I will see if it lasts through Monday. I did notice today that when you lift them up the right side starts that burning/painful feeling. It only lasts about 1 - 5 min. but it sure is awful.

I have had fibro for about 32 years now & this is the first time I am a little worried that they will blame it on the fibro and not look for another problem. Does anyone ever worry about that?

I have noticed the last few weeks Ive been having the same pains, sickofthepain, but its in my left. Ive had them off and on for years, now that Im thinking back, and this seems to be a flare up of that pain. Im not sure. I do know that I am considering going to a doctor, because in the same breast I have a small, pebbly knot. I think it has gotten a little larger in the last few years, but not drastically. I also have similar knots elsewhere, which is why I havent gotten them looked at yet.

I put it off, and off, and off. Don't like to be squished, you know?

So I finally went. The needle biopsies came back yesterday, positive for 2 kinds of cancer in the left breast.

It just might not be fibro causing the pain.
