Newbie here - areas don't hurt to touch - yet?

hi, I am new.
I am a 30yr old female and think I might have developped FM a month of more ago. I am experiencing slight pains in most of mentioned spots on body, both sides and upper and lower part of body, occasionally, these just "turn up" and go away.
For now I have been wondering might I have a mild case of FM since these pains aren't prominent but they do let me know they are here. I also ocasionally feel tired and have sense of needles/cold sweat on hands.
I wanted to ask, is it possible for pains to be slight?

(I am otherwise a healthy person, non smoker, no family history of illnesses...)

Hi Mirta,

Welcome to the fibromyalgia forum.  Yes it is possible for the pain to be slight.  It waxes and wanes.

Take a look at the first thread on the forum.  I think it will be helpful to you.  It is called "fibro 101".  If you are new to this, this will help you a lot.  It has a llist of symptoms that would surprise you.  You may even see yourself there.  There is a lot of useful info on that thread.  So please do check it out. 

Are you seeing a doc regularly?  You need to get a diagnosis so you can treat this disorder.  I hope you get one soon, though I wish you didn't have it at all.  You are young and it could take up so much of your life.

But you say the pain is slight, so keep moving around.  That keeps it at bay.  Walk if you can, gentle stretching and some other exercise would help.  If we become unproductive in that respect, we can develop rigor in our muscles, and that is no fun.

Dear Karen, thank you so much for replying! :)
As it happens, husband and me are new on this continent (Canada) and waiting for our papers, I have no health insurance or doctor yet so I'll wait two more months to see if the symptoms persist as I read three months are required for a diagnosis!
I read the list of symptoms and I do have maybe almost half, including frequent depression (which has been there for many years anyway).
I had some trouble sleeping today due to little pains all over my body. I am feeling ok now thankfully. Otherwise, I am happy the pains are really low intensity.
It just irks me that my husband thinks I made it all up because I read about it and doesn't even want to consider reading about the illness as I never had any problems since childhood.

yeah exactly, I have read so much about the issue in the last few days! I am glad I managed to pinpoint my symptoms because I don't have any serious symptoms that could be attributed to any other illness.
I don't drink, drive (which means I walk a lot daily), eat too unhealthy or smoke, I try to live as healthy as reasonable with occasional treat like fries or ice cream from time to time.
I will try to be even more active and also I'll do more research about the whole thing!
You were diagnosed about the time I was born, I am sure it was even harder to diagnose and convince people back then, I can't imagine how I'd cope without internet and all the useful info and communities of today, priceless! Glad to see you learned how to live with it and I hope you found a way to treat it/lessen the symptoms effectively!

Hi, Mirta, glad to have you aboard - but sorry for the symptoms, of course.

I can relate to what you said. It took my hubby years to get it, but he finally did - good thing, as we probably wouldn't still be together otherwise! He used to say that I should never have a medical dictionary in the house, because I had a strong tendency to self-diagnose ;( That burned me so bad, because he failed to grasp that the pain came first (and the pain was debilitating, whether or not I researched it!)....he would never read anything either, and still won't. What finally got him to start taking it seriously was my finding a doctor who HE trusted and respected, who believed me...and just time, I guess....

It would be hard at first because I had always been healthy and active (worked out a lot, loved using my body, way more than he ever did) and it just didn't make sense. But it's awful when they don't believe you!

definately, specially I only have my husband now in our new city/country, no friends or family!
He's great otherwise and if there would be any more serious problems I am sure he'll stand by me, since for now it's not alarming, he's just being an optimist I guess! :P
