I have been feeling like a snail for about a month. I kept complaning to everyone that I was so tired. I ask my Dr. If he would do labs on me because it has been a year. I finally got on Medicare. I am still trying to get to kow my new Dr. Well, my thyroid was low and now I am on meds. I pray this helps some with the fatigue and weight gain. I sometimes gets so frustrated with this fibro. It seems to cover up the real problem. After while your Dr. doesn't hear your complaints because I always have a problem.

Glad they tested you for this and now you are on medication.

That is a good reminder for everyone on here to always make sure blood tests are done first when they get their diagnosis to rule things like this out.

Question...did they never do that type of bloodwork when you first were diagnosed with Fibro? Or did you just start having more fatigue and the tests were negative previously for your thyroid issue?

Thankfully thyroid issues are very easily helped by the medicine...I have 5 friends that are on medicine for the same issue.

Snow bunny- I knew I had a Thyroid problem before. Years ago Dr's took me off because it got to high with the meds. I have a senstive heart rate. My heart was so fast on it. They watched it for awhile then it was normal, so I wasn't on it for years. It makes me a little nervous starting up again. I am on a low dose. Even b-12 made my heart race. I am on meds for my heart rate now. I still feel like they are missing something else. I just don't feel good. I am getting a little tired of having no energy.

Hi Ak Angel,

I take it you are 'tired' of being 'tired'. And at a snail's pace, we get nowhere fast. I hope that the new meds don't make your heart race again. Try to stay relaxed and not worry about it too much. Especially now if you are on medication for that too.

I remember that feeling of fatigue daily. It is so hard to do anything. I did a lot of sleeping those days. That was all I could do. With the help of medication, I now can do things. Not like I use to though, but I think those days are gone for me.

Take care of yourself. Pay attention to any warning signs of your heart. But try to enjoy things now that you can.

I'm glad they listened to you.  I have a fabulous doctor but it was like pulling teeth to get him to listen to me when I was very tired.  Turned out I was anemic from a bleeding ulcer!  

 

I had no problems with my thyroid so that was ruled out but in your case you got the help you needed.  I bet you will start feeling much better soon.  Let us know because we do care about you.

I'm glad your doctor listened, Angel. Hopefully this will make you feel peppier. I've been off and on thyroid meds, too (right now, I'm on.) I haven't noticed any difference, but - oh well - guess I'll just go with the flow.

I was in the hospital overnight, getting a heart stress test (long story, big waste of time and $$) and the one thing to come out of that was that my thyroid was low. Gee, wouldn't it have been easier to just do a blood test?? :(
