confused going to dr on tues, again, can anyone give advice on meds that are giving them back their life?? Dr and i are starting over she gave me savella on last visit, starter pack, and i was so sick to my stomach all day, and i was up to 50mg 2 x a day, but had to stop and went back to old med, citalopram!! I have elevated liver ensymes so i cant take cymbalta or any other med that effects the liver, but i would appreciate some ideas! THANKS

Billy I did not know if you have elevated liver enzymes that you should not take Cymbalta. I guess I should be way more pleased with myself for weaning off it. No wonder my enzymes did not get any better. Oh well not taking those anymore, lol. Thanks for sharing

I just started taking a muscle relaxer called Robaxin and it has helped me significantly.  The other pain relievers are over the counter things you said you can't take. 

 

Oh, there is an alternative product that has won awards for pain relief and it has helped me.  It's called Curamin.  Google it and read the testimonies.  It does work.  It has tumeric (curry) and a couple other things...nothing strange.  LOL  It's gone through a process that helps the tumeric be absorbed easier.  Tumeric has been used for pain for thousands of years.

Hi billy-girl...I'm sorry that the Savella did not work for you, I've been able to take it for just over 3 years now without any trouble...my body could not tolerate cymbalta.

We are all so differant when it comes to meds...trial and error for many of us. I have found Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) to be very helpful for flares...mine are 10 mg. and I only take them as needed. I also take some vitamin supplements that make a differance. You could ask your doctor about vitamin D3 and vitamin B12...they have helped with achiness and the B vitamin I take is a sublingual 5000mcgs, a day...it has really helped give me a vitamin boost. Supplements can interfere with other meds so it is important to talk to your doc.

Distracting pain seems to be one of the biggest things that gets me through each day...finding things that you love to do to keep you busy really does work. Moist heating pads also help.

I have found both Flexeril and klonopin to be effective...also I get botox for migraines and the doc runs the shots into my neck and shoulders, I don't get fibro pain there anymore. Its not approved in the US for fibromyalgia but if you can afford it its very helpful. The shots even in my face don't hurt as much as a bee sting.

Thanks everyone for your suggestion, love them all and will talk with dr about all of it. Sherrine, i think you cant take curamin while taking antidepressants, can you? I hear you talk about it alot and would love to try it!! @Deepwell, my enzymes are back to normal now but will still talk to dr about milk thistle, i have heard about that too, thanks!!!!

Billy girl- the vitamin supplements seem to help me the most. I refuse to try savella because I have a senstive stomach myself. It seems the more natural I can keep it the better I improved. We all are so different. I have a low pain thresh hold. It takes work to keep my mind busy, so I don't have a pity party.

Billy-Girl, it might be just certain antidepressants.  Write down these ingredients and ask  your doctor and your pharmacist.  They are tumeric, boswellia, nattokinaise, and DLPA.  I think it's the DLPA that might cause some problems but it might be fine with some antidepressants.  You'll have to ask to see if there would be any interaction.
