Has anyone tried elderberry tea or juice?

Me too. Maybe that is why they sing about elderberry wine... lol...

It can't hurt to try I wouldn't think...

You know, I wonder if you would want to talk to your doctor to make sure that there wouldn't be any interactions, even though it sounds like it would be harmless. I know elderberries grow not far from me. And most berries are good for us. I am making grape wine right now. I will give it away if it turns out.

If you google about Elderberry toxicity or poisoning...you will actually find quite a few articles and even deaths associated with this. When I saw this title, it clicked something in memory about hearing a story about this...

As mentioned..it is always crucial to speak with both your Dr. as well as your Pharmacist....The Pharmacist will know the most about interactions with medications.

I am all for natural treatments and supplements that help but we just have to be careful about the more obscure ones and realize that these things are not regulated by the FDA.

I am about to turn 44...and when I was in high school...tanning salons were touted as "Safer than the sun" because of the limited exposure, etc..Well....obviously we know now just how harmful these are and I have many skin cancers surgery marks to prove it!!!

Same thing with taking caffeine/ephedra pills.. We took these in high school too for energy to get through long testing days. Again...everyone thought it was harmless and safe until people started dying from heart attacks!

Again..just do your research....talk with your medical professionals...and then make an educated decision:)

I think there are safe versions of the Elderberry but this is where you just have to be careful of where you buy it and again...knowing that it's not monitored by the FDA so ask your Dr./Pharmacist...

So I apologize for my post sounding all doom and gloom! LOL

I use to take the ephedra too. But it wasn't long after that they took it off the shelves. I remember when I got them from the pharmacist. He told me the only other person that got them, got them for their dog who had asthma. They are a broncodialator. But then they became a street drug and were abused. That always happens it seems.

Good to check with the doc. Just to be on the safe side.
