Saw the ortho who treated my back when i broke it in 2009. Did not realize it had been that long, since i still have pain. I am having bone density this friday. He said my lower back will hurt the rest of my life. This is due to fibro and the fact i walk on my toes with my right leg. Broke ankle in 1983 and did not have much therapy so it did not heal correctly and can not bend it much so i limp. He did say i might want to talk to their foot specialist and surgery might be an option. They talked about fusing it once before but i would not be able to bend it at all if they do.
They upper back pain is why they are checking with the bone density (last had one in 2009) to see what they can do.
For my sleep problems he suggested melatonin pills. So will be getting them soon.
As for exercise, I told him the cardiologist said to start walking. He said NO that with my ankle and back the way they are it would be bad for me to do that. Since i can not get around pools with out hyperventilating, he agreed not for me either as he said i might wind up with another heart attack.
So we are looking at recumbent bikes. He said that might be a great idea. Does anyone here have one? I have tried them at PT and liked them. I like the back support. Any thoughts on what to look for?
Thanks for letting me share.
