Pain type is changing

So this is being posted under my previous user name because I couldn't remember the log in for my most recent user name and when I asked to have the info sent to me...I saw that it was under this username (which I forgot I even had!). Confused yet? Me too! hahahaha

Anyway, just curious. I'm coming down from what was the worst flare of my life. I was prescribed gabapentin for a short time to get me over the intense pain (the bone crushing pain, mostly in my legs). I have been off the meds for about two weeks now. I am now finding that my fibro pain is a different kind of pain than it was before. It used to be the overall achiness and morning stiffness. I still have that, but I also have random sharp shooting pains, mostly in my hands and feet. And they can get pretty intense!

My question then would be....does your type of pain change over time? The bone crushing pain really scared me, but I can now chalk that up to a spike in anxiety. I am doing psoas muscle stretches to help alleviate that, and it seems to be working. But now these dumb sharp pains really come out of nowhere and are new to my world. Yuck!

But the good news is, I'm back to walking again and am so very happy! Yay!

Thank you so much for a response. It's a sharp stabbing pain and it seems to occur in between my finger or toe bones. Very odd. I have neuropathy in my feet, but this is totally different. I may be developing some type of arthritis...fingers have been more and more stiff. I guess I'll bring it up at my next doc visit if it continues.

Hello: If fibromyalgia is your only diagnosis then its probably safe to say that it is normal to have pain variations of all shapes and sizes.

Ive had this for one year and have experienced every pain you can think of.

sometimes differents ones at different times and sometimes all of them in one day!

symptoms inclulde:

muscle aches and pains.

cramping which is a (new one to me)

sharp shooting pains

pins in needles in the hands and feet

stiffness

numbness in the hands and feet and other parts of the body or parathesias

full body flare ups, partial body flare ups etc. Thats just the pain portion of this condition.

its nuts! fibrom seems to come and go like the weather patterns, unpredictable at times.

I get very anxious about all these symptoms which is why im on this forum too.

As much as i respond to people i also post my share of worries

So far my Neurologist says its all FM related.

Expect the unexpected but also expect some days to be better than some days also.
