Newbie here!

Hello everyone! I just found this website while researching a new medication I've been put on for my fibromyalgia. You guys appear to be very supportive and non-judgmental of each other and a pretty active board, so I was hoping to join and have someone to talk to, being that noone in my life understands what I go through on a daily basis...

I've been officially dosed for 5 years and I know I've had it for a lot longer. I also have osteo arthritis in my hands and shoulders. Joint damage in my hips and shoulders. I'm also clinically depressed, which doesn't help at all. I have been getting migraines for over 20 years.

I'm a military wife with 2 awesome boys, ages 8 and 14. We live in Sunny Southern California, but Florida is home.

I'm going to go through and continue reading reading the site. I hope to talk with you ladies often.

Glad you found us. This board can be very helpful and supportive. Sometimes, it is just nice to know thatsomeone, out there, knows what it feels like.

Ari216 Welcome to the fibro forum! You found the right place to learn how to manage your fibro and get wonderful support. I have had fibro for over 20 years, but it was a few years ago that I came across this site to. It has been a life changing experience for me since I have been here. I came here in horrible shape and I had no idea I would ever be this healthy again.

What I did was read several post each day and get some ideas. I begin to try some treatments with my Dr's approval first. I made a list of all symptoms and put the worse first. Several of us have the same symptoms so I tried some treatments that work for them. Bingo it was no time that I relieved a lot of my symptoms with mostly natural remedies. I was amazed how vitamins made a big difference for me. So my treatment plan is very simple now. I do light excercise daily, heat, calcium, vitamin D, magnesium, stay away from unwanted stress, eat healthy and I take subutex for pain.

Hi, Ari, and welcome!  Sunny Florida is my home too!  I'm in the Tampa Bay area and absolutely love it.  You have found the right place here at HealingWell if you want to be understood!  We've all been there and done that.  We have wonderful members who love to help one another and, as a bonus, we really do care about one another too.  I think you will like it here.

 

Many here suffer from depression.  Who wouldn't be depressed with all of this.  I'm one of the rare people that doesn't have to deal with depression usually.  I do have my days but overall I'm a positive thinker and that has helped me as much as any medication I take.

 

I also have a form of arthritis called ankylosing spondylitis plus a few other goodies thrown in but I can still live my life to the fullest and enjoy it, too!  I hope we can help you that way also.  Plus, we do have depression and arthritis forums on HealingWell, also, if you want to pinpoint something. 

 

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  You just might see yourself there, too.  It's good to learn all you can about this illness because we do have to be our own advocates.
