Imagine my surprise when I typed in Google "Scalp hurst" and I end up here! I' m not sure what substance P is but I'm going to research it. I know it sucks but I'm glad I'm not alone with my Fibromyalgia issues. Specifically the scalp pain. I honestly wish none of us ever had to ever deal with this, but I also believe there's a reason for everything. Call me whatever, it's what gets me through. When I mentioned my scalp pain to my doctor, she didn't address that she had heard me. I honestly feel she doesn't want to deal with me and my illness. I feel as of she rushes me through. Yeah yeah give her renewal on her scripts and see her in another 3 months. Who cares! I'm not alone. I know this. Anything I can find out I will share with you! Promise.

I brought up my scalp pain to my doctor a while back. I told him it's like my hair hurts. He said it's almost always nerve-related. I found the Neurontin helps; however, I'm working hard to stay off any medications I can and find more natural alternatives. Sometimes easier said than done.

Welcome, ModGirl! This is a wonderful forum. Glad you are here, but sorry you share in the fibro.

I was told I had fibro 20 years ago. Had a lot of flare ups and so on. Then I was always sick lately and had some alergy tests done. Found I was allergic to Milk (of all things) and eggs. Both cause painful joints and respirtary illness.
I had had a severe pain on the back of my neck that traveled up the back of my head to the top. Couldn't lay my head down on a pillow at night (well you know how that goes).
After they told me about my allergies I stopped all milk products and eggs and in three days I was pain free. I also didn't have any more flare ups. So I thought Hey I don't have fibro after all.

But now I get pain (tender spots) on the top of my head every once in awhile. So went online to see if anymone else has this problem. I read that fibro might be the cause of the pain.
I haven't been too careful about the milk lately (its in everything that tastes good) so am going to be more careful and see if that is the problem. I'll let you know in a few weeks is that is the solution.
All I know is its not the golden years they talk about. seems like there is something new all the time that causes pain.

I'm new here. I just typed in"scalp hurts" and here I am. I've read several answers, but I don't believe I have Fibro. I don't have any other issue related to this, but every few months, my scalp becomes ultra sensitive and hurts a lot. it usually goes away after a week or two, but always comes back. No one seems to have a clue and most people look at me like I'm making it up! It's very painful. I welcome any suggestions. Thanks.

Welcome, barbaramsw! Did you start a 'newbie' thread here to introduce yourself yet? You could just title it something like "Hi: I'm new here."

Sorry you have fibro, but nice to 'meet' you. :)

As I had mentioned above, Neurontin helped (and helps me still) with scalp pain, or any nerve pain. I would guess there are other meds that may help, as well. I have heard even changing a hairstyle can sometimes help!
