I was dx'd about a year ago. At that time I tried cymbalta. I really didn't like it. I just made me feel off. I stopped using it and went me free for a long time (may be a guy thing by, I didn't want to have to take medicine). After several flair ups and being miserable, I finally went back to the doctor. He suggested I try prozac. I was a little skeptical because I could not find any mention of using it for fibro. I decided to give it a shot and am very happy with the results. I am less fatigued and my pain is down 75‰. Has anyone else had any experience with prozac?

wish i had that feeling with being on prozac,think i have been on it for a year now,its strange that you have much more energy tho,as i feel drained from it non stop,but i am happy that its helpping you,all the meds must help people in different ways,i will stay on it for a little while longer to see any change,best wishes

Hi, KentuckyFan, and welcome!  Well, Cymbalta and Prozac are similar and are both used for depression.  But obviously they are used for other things, too.  Both help raise the serotonin levels I believe but I haven't heard of it being used for fibro.  But I'm so happy this drug has helped you.

 

My husband was put on Prozac for severe depression and it was wonderful for him, too.

I read that there is a new trend of using antidep. to treat fibro, im using ixel, this is my 7th day it was fine but i flared yesterday and today i feel drained and tired and i can feel fatigue seeping in so i dont know whether it is just a flare or the side effects. Good luck with prozac :)

Think its just the fibro Reemag as it takes awhile to kick in the prozac but go back to your doctor tho if it carrys on,hope the flare has eased now,yes agree with sherrine it gives our body serotonin that we lack from,but for me it does that but doesnt help with my depression,but it helps other people tho,as my polish friend awhile ago it dident help her neither,i hope it helps you Reemag and hope you are feeling alot beter now,hello to other laddies to XX

Just found this thread. I have used both Savella and Cymbalta successfully, but they both have quit on me after several months of use. My doctor has me trying Prozac right now, and it is helping. I was just wondering if anyone else was using it. The generic name is fluoxetine.
