Yesterday I had to go get a refill on Mojo kitty's allergy medicine. While I was there the vet assistants were discussing a stray one of them had found that someone had taken a weed eater to the top of his tail. They had to remove the top half of his tail and they were worried he'd have a hard time getting a home.
While Mojo was off visiting old friends one of the assistants brought the kitty out for me to see. He was adorable and started purring as soon as he was in my arms. I knew right then that Bernie was coming home with me.
He is very playful and a beautiful cat, even with only a stub tail. He's very cuddly. Now we are working on getting our other cats to accept him. Mojo has been playing with Bernie but Hunter S Thompson wants nothing to do with Bernie. She's our independent kitty. She'd rather sleep in the bathroom sink than play with the other cats. Hopefully, everyone bonds well.
I wish I could post a picture so everyone could enjoy my furbabies. They sure make me smile.

Bernie is lucky to have you as his Mom. Mojo and Hunter are lucky to have a new "brother." Furbabies are precious. I love cats too. My Charlie and Frankie can be naughty but they are lovable.
i'm so glad that Bernie warmed your heart and you were able to rescue him. The thought of someone harming an animal is so sad. It is good to know that Bernie is in good hands now!

He's such a sweetie I hate that he was ever hurt. Our other 2 kitties I rescued when they were babies. Both were abandoned strays.
Bernie is cuddling with me right now. He just purrs and purrs. My husband even fell for Bernie's charms. Bernie hates being alone which works great since I'm home all the time.
Our vet is awesome. We get huge discounts on our kitties' medical care because they are all rescues. They were all fixed for free and Mojo's medicine is free. They text and even send us pictures of our kitties when they are at the vet so we know how they are doing. Hunter can't leave the house because it makes her insanely anxious so the vet came here to give her her shots.

I have a soft spot for strays. Scratch him once for us!

Ear scratches given. He purred his thank you. :). Mojo was too comfortable in my desk chair to get up for any petting and Hunter is sleeping with my husband. She likes to sleep on his pillow. Makes it look like he has a kitty toupee. Lol

AV,
Your story is making me smile :) I love happy endings for animals.
I'm still not over losing my Tommy last summer. Hubby keeps saying, "Why don't you get another cat?" but I'm not ready emotionally. Plus, I can't get down to the floor...makes it kinda hard....and Jack the Nutzo Cattle Dog would freak out a new kitty....or worse. Someday.
Anyway, I'm very happy for you!!

I love animals. We don't live in an area where we can have dogs. My knees wouldn't allow me to walk it in the winter and there's so much traffic.
We started with Hunter. I found her on the side of the road when she was around 4 weeks old, according to my vet. She was a tiny grey furball. Then my friend found Mojo the next day. He was not a cute kitten but I fell in love with his big belly. He was the same age as Hunter. Now Bernie is older than the other 2. He's 1 and a half. I love my rescues. I can't imagine being happier had a bought any specific breed.
Now my husband is always teasing me about
how I would bring home any cat I see. He's right! I don't think we need more than 3 cats so now any strays I find I take to my vet. They care for them until they get them a home. I hate seeing any animal suffer.

Sounds like a wonderful vet and group of fur babies.
My fur babies are so sweet. We've got roly-poly Tom. We call him "old man" most of the time because he sleeps a lot and walks like an old man. He's huge (25lbs), and has long hair in a black and white tux! He loves to be rubbed with your foot. He was orphaned at 3 weeks when his mother was hit by a car. We brought his brother and him home and raised them. His brother died last year of a heart attack or stroke.
The other is the Queen Bee. Her name is Patches. She rules the roost. She's a long haired calico. She won't eat her food unless I let her sit in my lap for at least 5 minutes rubbing her. She knows when I feel bad and hangs around me loving on me a lot. She sleeps on my bed all of the time. I found her on the door steps of my classroom injured. Some one had kicked her so hard she had a hernia. I rushed her to the vet to be cared.
