Hi all

I am a bit worried and was wondering if anyone can advise...

I have half term holiday coming up (spring break) and the weather is getting warmer...my 4 year old has been itching to go on a day trip.. So far since fibro I have managed going to the local park and swimming.

I was just wondering has anyone managed day trip with kids, like zoo or theme park and if so what tips can you give me...

Kids? No. But I do lots of traveling. Day trips and weekends.

Plan well. Take extra meds.

Take warm clothing! i cannot even tell you how many times I have thought, gee, it's warm here, won't need a jacket.

Water and fruit.

Sit down when you can. If walking a lot, go at your pace and the devil take the rest.

Take a pillow in the car. Take frequent breaks from the car.

Don't plan anything for the next day!

Plan. Don't try to over-do. BUT, I am seriously of the mindset that you can't give up life just because you have a chronic
condition. Go, enjoy, and build a memory. The worst that can happen is you need to rest the next day.

Plan mini breaks along the way. Take any painkillers that u r used to with you. Familiarize urself with the place and see what u can buy from there instead of carrying it while walking. Get the kid ready for the fact that you may have to choose what to see and not go through the whole place. If there r places that you can move to using ur car inside , do that to minimize the distances you have to walk and avoid extreme tempratures. Other than that i think it will be perfectly fine, i ve done it before, at the end of the day you will be wasted but very happy :))

A trip to the zoo would be idea. You can sit down at the cages and watch the animals for a spell. Make it a relaxing day. If it gets too rough you can leave early because a 4 yr old won't realize you haven't seen everything.
If the zoo has a playground nearby you can let him play there while you sit and watch him.
