ANY NEW RESEARCH AVAILABLE TO REVIEW ON FIBRO

I have been away from this wonderful site for awhile. I hope that everyone is doing well.  As well as anyone can be while fighting this unforgiving illness. 

I've been trying to find out if there is any new research available on fibro. Then I thought, hey my fibromite friends at HealingWell.com would be a great place to go and ask.

I wish I could tell you all that I'm doing awesome..I'm doing the best I can. Somedays are much better than others as you all know.

I look forward to your responses and I've missed all your encouraging words.

There is new research showing a genetic link to fibromyalgia on the chromosome 17p11.2-q11.2 at two markers. Just google "17p11.2-q11.2" to see the study I'm talking about. The sibling recurrence ratio is 13.6 compared to 2% in the general population.

I'm guessing this means that some people are genetically susceptible to fibromyalgia (which makes sense, since my mum has chronic fatigue; also, I have some friends where the father has CFS and FMS, and the son has CFS). This doesn't mean that anyone in your family has to have had it before; there's only a 13.6% chance that people with the gene will get it. For example, none of my 3 siblings have either FMS or CFS - just me.
