swollen lymph nodes

Hi all

I went for an ultra sound test today on a really enlarged lymph node I have on my right side of neck..this has been there 6 months overall, I told doc about it in beginning and she thought nothing of it and said it was just a viral thing...

The specialist who did the ultrasound couldn't believe she left it this long to get me an ultrasound (only got it because I pushed for it )thats NHS for you...

Now he wants to do a needle biopsy to see if there is anything cancerous going on...or whats causing this..he said I also have extremely sore throat (ive had about 4 in last six months)...my lymph nodes have never gone down though

Has anyone else had this problem, is this part of fibro or CFS? im starting to think I don't have fibro after all, as some things just don't add up!

I did have what they thought was an enlarged lymph node a few years ago, and the doctor was afraid it might be Lymphoma. (I can't even remember what doctor it was, or whether they did a biopsy - guess there have just been too many incidents over the years!) but I do remember an ultrasound, and them deciding I just had a larger tendon on one side.

Do you mean the specialist told you you had a really red throat?

Dang! Just what you needed, huh, something else to worry about? It's pretty hard not to when they use the word Cancer. I'd be upset with my doctor too, for letting it go this long. But I'm glad you pursued an answer. Try not to worry....chances are, it won't be anything serious.
