Let's face it...Sometimes exercising is the last thing we feel like doing when we hurt and we are tired. I'm not talking about
pumping iron, just getting in a daily walk. I confess that there are days, I have to push myself out the door to get started. There are other days, I wake looking forward to my walk. Being a fibromite, we really do benefit from the act of doing gentle stretches and walking. Walking helps with our flexibility and strengthens our muscles. It builds stamina to fight our fatigue and it is a wonderful stress reliever.
If you haven't walked in a while, just the thought of walking around the block can tire you. Start out slow and increase your distance as you feel stronger. Quite awhile back, I bought a pedometer and worked up to three miles a day. Since my lung surgery last summer, I'm closer to a half a mile to a full mile a day. Just getting out there is beneficial. Exercise for fibromites is not an optional activity, it is a must. You might want to discuss your exercise plans with your doc if you have concerns.
I just know to maintain, I need to keep moving. Good luck with any of your endeavors.
Hugs, Robin
