You need to find a doctor that understands this illness. Yours can't be bothered and it's probably because he doesn't know what to do. Sure, everyone under the sun "have" fibro...if they go to doctors like himself.
They really aren't using the tender point test as much because it's not accurate. Many doctors don't hit the spots or don't push hard enough...like your doctor. You basically are diagnosed if you have chronic pain in all four quandrants of the body that has lasted several month and, after many test, there is no explanation for the pain. Also cognitive memory problems are part of diagnosing fibro.
I suggest you find a good board certified rheumatologist and make sure they treat fibro patients. They usually do but there are still a few out there that are in the Dark Ages when it comes to fibro.
Let us know what you do because we do care about you.

You should have lupus and Lyme ruled out along with arthritis and a few other things. In Fibro 101 there is a link called What Else Could It Be. These things should be ruled out before a fibro diagnosis is given. A good rheumy can do this for you.
