Hi, Msterri8, and welcome! Are they positive that the swallowing problem is fibromyalgia? We rarely hear of this on the forum. I have had a few occasions where I had difficulty swallowing and my doctor said it was a muscle spasm, but I usually am fine. It's nothing constant as you are describing. If this were happening to me, I'd see a specialist and request a swallow study. They can see exactly what is going on.
It is so important to keep hydrated. From your post it sounds to me like you aren't getting fluids like you should. This possibly could be part of your problem. If you are not hydrated, your mucles don't work as well. You have muscles in your throat that helps push the food to the stomach. If the muscles aren't working well, then you could have problems that way. It's worth talking to your doctor about. Also, water helps with digestion of foods, etc.

I hope you get some answers tomorrow at your doctor's appointment. Do ask about drinking more water. I think it's very important for you and just might help clear up these problems for you.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
