I found this post in another thread so I'm posting it here so people will greet our new member! Welcome!

Hello, I'm new to fibromyalgia. I have the wide spread pain all day everyday. I'm 33 yrs old with medication the Doctors have me on the pain only stay at bay for about 4 hours then I have to take break through medication to get to my next dose of lyrica. My Dr. took me off of work on FMLA and STD they didn't want to pay now its been three months and I can't go back to work because of the pain it has missed with strength inmy arms and legs and made migraines more intense. For the last 6weeks I have been having episodes of pain where my body seizes up with pain and I can't hardly talk because to b pain is so intense. After a family I member helps to get me pasts this point and get my medicated ontop of what I have already taken I am in bedridden for the rest of the day if not week. I don't like to go anywhere because I don't want it to happen in public because ontop of everything else I had a fall it left with left side weakness and I walk on a cane. I have to have someone stay with me at night time because I have to younger children that try to help out 10 and 6, these pain episodes are a bit much for them. I have another diagnosis of a tilted sacrum therapy in July was the on set of my fibromyalgia. Has anyone else when through this please help I need to know that I'm not going crazy.

Hi, and welcome! No, you are not going crazy. You are suffering with extreme pain and need to find out exactly why and what can help you. It doesn't sound like Lyrica is doing the trick. Did your doctor do a lot of blood work to rule out other illness that have many of the same symptoms as fibro? Just wondering. If not, you might want to see a board certified rheumatologist who treats fibro patients. You can ask before scheduling an appointment. You also can check doctors out at healthgrades.com and vitals.com.

I use ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, magnesium malate, vitamin D3, and a muscle relaxer called Robaxin to help with my pain and fatigue. Many with fibro are deficient in vitamin D and also magnesium and this can cause more pain. Also, it's important to keep moving. If you sit or lay too much you will be stiff as a board and have more pain. Doing a daily gentle exercise is important. I walk and/or swim for my exercise. Yoga is another good exercise for fibro. I also do daily stretches and pace myself when doing things. All of the above help me be in control of my pain.

Fibro is not a progressive illness but a few years ago I was getting progressive back pain. I went to see a rheumatologist when I started having to use two canes to walk and my steps were in inches. I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis and also sacroiliitis and was put on ibuprofen and the muscle relaxer. This has made a noticible difference for me. I no longer need to use a cane and the horrible pain is way down now.

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info a out fibro and you will learn a lot there. Good starting links for you would be Symptoms, A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia, and What Else Could It Be. You just might see yourself there. There are links about vitamin D and also magnesium malate (malic acid/magnesium) and how they work in your body. All of Fibro 101 is good so do read it.

Hi, AmIgoingcrazy. I don't know if you noticed, I also gave you the "new member" welcome - moved your post, etc - and then noticed Sherrine had done it 10 hours ago - oh well....  blush So if you saw a thread suddenly disappear, it was mine.

Sounds like you could really use some support. You will find it here! We're all in this crazy boat together. It's true that what helps one doesn't always help another, but we all do understand the pain factor.

Welcome to the forum! I hope you find this forum helpful as I have. Your very young to be so down with fibro. Hopefully you can get some control over the pain. You want to be moving as much as possible with fibro. The less movement the more pain of fibro sets in. It took me a long time realize that statement is so true. I was amazed how simple exercise program help my fibro. I began to take vitamin supplements and make changes in my life style. It finally paid off and now I am not bed fast anymore. I couldn't go back to work, but at least I have fairly good control of my fibro. I hope we will see you around.
