Stopping prednisone

Hey all- i have been on prednisone for about 5 yrs now for fibro- i ran out about 4 days ago, i figured, well with only being on 5mg i should be ok to stop it- Yesterday i woke up and had my coffee, felt totally wiped out, went back to bed- slept for 3 hours, got up had lunch, and went back to sleep for another 4 hours, woke again watched some tv- went to bed by 9pm and slept all night! I have never slept this much in years! Im wondering if the sudden stopping of prednisone is the reason? I know all the pain thats back in my joints and the swelling of hands and feet have to be from stopping it..I am going to refill script- will i EVER be able to get off of these? I figured 5mg is such a small dose it would be easy to just stop. Any one have any ideas?

Thank you! I dont feel like such a cry baby now! I had a pain doc tell me that i will never be able to get off of it as i have been on to many years and now the gland that produces this normally will not work by its self. i dont know if that is true or not.

I hope your doing well. Predisone is a drug you want to taper off. I hope your not having unpleasant side effects from from stoping so suddenly.
