Blood pressure and Lyrica and also Savella question

Anyone else have blood pressure that increased as soon as starting Lyrica?

And anyone else swtich to Savella? The pharmacist and I were talking about it today and I will ask my doctor about it next time.

But the pharmacist had never heard of anyone getting high blood pressure after starting Lyrica.

I've been on Savella for over four years now. Before taking it, I was already taking medication for high blood pressure. Taking Savella did not increase my blood pressure. I've been lucky not to have had any bad side effects. I tried Cymbalta before the Savella and could not tolerate it...suffered extreme nauseas and dizziness.

When my rheumy started me on the Savella, he gave me two 2-week titration packs so that I had a full month to gradually get up to a daily dosage of 50 mgs 2x daily. My body slowly adjusted to the dosage and I was able to tolerate it well. At one time I was thinking of going off of it to see how I felt but decided against it. It is not a miracle med, but it has helped. Get ready to pay...it is expensive.

I was in the clinical trials for Savella and had to drop out because it increased my blood pressure and heart rate. Other people from my support group were in the trial and all but one (of those not taking the placebo) dropped out due to the side effects, either blood pressure or nausea. It worked really well for the one man in our group, he stayed on it after the trials were over.

The first clinical trials for milnacipran (Savella) showed that it was not significantly better than placebo, the next study showed improvement.

I have taken Lyrica before and while I didn't have any trouble with high bp, it did cause me to gain around 30lbs. Once I stopped taking it, the weight came off. I am now taking gabapentin and my dr had me taking 3 pills a day which did cause my bp to rise. What I did was to go down to taking 1 a day and slowly worked my way back up to 3 a day and no more bp issues.
