Hello I am new to this board !!
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last month after seeing a rheumatologist just one time. The doctor ran the gamut of rheumatology blood tests .... All coming back negative. The doctor then told me since I tested negative for rheumatoid arthritis, Lyme, lupus ,etc.... That she believes that I have fibromyalgia. She did write me a prescript
ion for Lyrica and told me to give it a try and come back in 6 to 8 weeks.
I walked away from the appointment feeling like I was in a complete fog... Only because I did not particularly believe the fibromyalgia diagnosis.
After further research of my own I do realize that I have many of the fibromyalgia... However I DO NOT have some of the hallmark symptoms - such as headaches, memory fog depression, fatigue/tiredness or insomnia. My symptoms are mainly pain in my arms legs and shoulders & just recently tingling pain in my scalp .
From all of my research I have also read that it is very hard to get diagnosed with fibromyalgia many times people go to numerous doctors and wait months before this diagnosis is received.
I am curious if anyone out there that has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia... Didn't believe the diagnosis at first?
Am I just in denial?? I don't want to accept that I have FIBRO mainly bc I am so afraid of this diagnosis as I know that this is not something that is easy to live with!
Many thanks to experiences of your first diagnosis!
