Yikes - New Symptoms

I was diagnosed 8 years ago. I was always happy I didn't have migraines. However, I am starting to get piercing headaches above my eyes. Has this happened to anyone else. Fibro is not supposed to worsen over time, is it?

February is a blur, went from bed to sofa. The cold weather really took a toll this year. Coming out of that and boom headaches. I've never been a person who gets headaches. This is just not fair. :(

I get mild headaches with some weather fronts. It's more sinus, I think.

Going from sofa to bed and back again is about the worst thing you can do for fibro. You need to keep moving. You should get up and do something light or just walk around about every half an hour. It does help with the pain.

Sounds like a good idea though. Going out for coffee... But I love coffee... LOL...

I hope your headaches go away. Do you have any peppermint oil? Try rubbing it on your forehead...

Oh, how you have been quite "lucky" up until now to not have headaches! I don't wish them on anyone! I hate to hear that you're now getting these issues!

I am a rare case, with a terrible on-going headache that has not gone away for about 5 or 6 yrs. Not once has it gone away this entire time and nothing OTC even touches the pain. It is enough to drive me insane (actually, it does-- I have lived with mood disorders my whole life too and I swear this headache makes me crazier )!!

I have not been able to get enough medical attention/ healthcare coverage in order to pinpoint to causes to it.

On top of this chronic headache, I get sinus headaches and migraines, including ocular migraines... (but migraines do run in my family)... and also have this intense, sharp, stabbing pain in my head at times that feels both like a knife and electricity.. lasts for only a few seconds at a time, thankfully! But bloody painful! Brings me to my knees if I am standing. But this pain happens mostly towards the top of my head, towards the back of my head, or in the temples.

The only issues I have around my eyes is just severe severe relentless pressure (accompanied by tinnitus that never goes away-- sometimes turns into the pulsatile type where the ringing is in-sync with my heartbeat).

It really is a tough life living with headaches... I know a lot of people get them... but I sure hope you can get yours situated, too!!

I'm so sorry about your daughter having breast cancer! I just found out that my aunt has it. So terrible!!! I hear you, stress does not help... I have had more stress than the average person my whole life... abusive childhood, +severe psychiatric conditions, mental breakdowns. And my mom just died 2 yrs ago now too (she was only 53), my beloved pet ferret died back in October (she was my everything-- I don't have children)!!... I swear all of my symptoms have been so much worse since.

I have done everything I could to educate myself fully on Fibro ever since being DX with it when I was 19 (or 20?). I hope all of your questions get answered once you go to the doc!!

I have not been able to do anything about the headaches. One MRI yrs ago back when I had state assistance for a bit... that was it... but was supposed to get re-tested for MS. Well, I can't get re-tested and a full work-up without insurance. I've always struggled without it on and off since I split up with my ex nearly 5 yrs ago. I am working on getting medicaid or medicare right now! I don't know though.. botox sounds risky!! My body is VERY sensitive to everything... I want to first be DX as to WHAT causes this (ongoing) headache exactly, and then take it from there.

I found out from a chiropractor that I have many neck vertebrae that are SEVERELY misaligned. But I still don't think that's ALL of my headache... he doesn't seem to help it out too much. But he's all I can afford as of now, and believe it or not, he's trying to help me with natural ways to fix my digestive/ gastro conditions.

I realize my headaches are greatly aggravated by food.

Mono-sodium glutamate (MSG) is the devil incarnated into a food item, for me. This terrible ingredient known to cause brain cell death at certain levels is in so many foods disguised under other labels that its hard to avoid. If I eat it, there WILL be a reaction. If I eat enough of it, it appears to do permanent damage. What ever has caused my FM/CFS has seemed to predispose me to a lower threshold for toxic levels.

Last year I had too much of a common snack food (cheetos/cheese puffs) and ended up with a 6 month headache after exposure. Yeah, 6 months basically and no medicine helps. The headaches still come to this day because of my choice to eat that food with MSG.

Sometimes I expose myself to smaller amounts of MSG today and the headache will last a week or so.

Other additives and preservatives also mess up my head. I now try to eat whole, unprocessed foods because of this.

Even frozen chicken is soaked in MSG before it goes to the freezer aisle. Its so hard to eat natural!

My headaches worsened when I got this FM/CFS like illness.

Anyone who has had an increase in frequency or severity of headaches with FM should watch their diet and watch for MSG and other additives, in my opinion. (Excitotoxins are toxins that excite neurons to death) They're also put into common foods. Most people seem to have a higher threshold for them, but people with illnesses affecting nerves often seem to have lower thresholds. (For example, glutamate is implicated in the progression of M.S.)

Glues also messes me up. (The fumes set my head off bad).
