I rarely answer my home phone when I am not sure of the caller.

Yesterday was an exception. A very nuce lady conducting a Gallop Poll. Then FIBRO FOG set in.
I was to answer the questions on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the most agreeable or whatever it was.

Poor lady, after dvery single 50 questions, I had to ask her to tell me the 1 - 5 scale again......

I bet they officially retired my phone number. .....

Ah, sometimes phone callers just give up on me because I keep having to say things like:
"Sorry, can you repeat that?"
"Sorry, I can't agree to that because I don't understand what it is you're asking me to agree to..."
"Can you explain that a different way?"
"Can you speak more clearly?"
"No, that's not my number, I said... No, that's not right either..."
"My birthdate... Um, wait, it's... What are you calling about again?"
"Sorry, why do you need to know that?"
"Did I call you or did you call me?"

And you should have just heard the conversation I had with my mum, who has chronic fatigue syndrome. She called me and we were both miscommunicating and misunderstanding each other...

At least you knew it was a survey....LOL! I answered the phone to a woman who began by asking me how I was doing and all the other nicities they begin with... thought it was a friend I hadn't heard from in over a year...started telling her about my husband's colonoscopy before she finally interrupted to inform me she was calling to ask me if I was pleased about the service I just got at my bank. I think she was laughing but might have been choking....

I don't answer the phone either if I don't know who it is. Telemarketers are the worst. I am on the "do not call" list for my land line and my cell phones. But some how, somebody gets my number. Once it was a call for a person that had the number before...

Fibro fog, well, what can I say about that? What was the topic again??? LOL..........

If I answer the phone and a telemarketer asks me how I am, I go into a long, drawn out description of every ache, pain, and surgery I have ever had and then I say, "Thanks for asking" before I hang up on them. devil

I'm on the Do Not Call list too, but still get annoying telemarketing calls. This morning I saw I had another one and just picked up the receiver and said, "Please note: We are on the Do Not Call list. Please remove this number from your listing. Thank you."

I really should have added: "This is a recording." Oh well, they did hang up on me. :)

I found out that these telemarketer's are exempt from the 'do not call' list if you have ever purchased something from them or even listened to them pitch their wares on a previous occasion...like asked them a question about their product. I ordered Omaha Steaks four years ago and they STILL call and text me one or twice a month because I once bought from them. You have to hang up on them immediately and not have even a rat hair of interest.

I love the 'funeral parlor' calls. They always ask how you're doing....LOL!

If it's an automated call my father has a way of dealing with them....he promptly mashes multiple buttons at the same time. The computer automatically hangs up. ;-))
