Cymbalta vs Generic

I have been taking Cymbalta for Fibro for a year and I have done very well on it. Several weeks ago my insurance company informed me that since a generic drug has been approved I no longer be able to get the name brand using my insurance. I started taking the generic and after about a week I was back where I started a year ago. I was able to go back to the name brand by paying full price for it. I've been back on it for a month but nothing has changed, I still have the same amount of pain. Has anyone had this problem.

I also take Cymbalta and my insurance switched me to generic but, I have had no problem taking it. If the medicine was working good for you, you may want to talk to your dr. about possibly raising the dosage.

It may take six to eight weeks to get it back in your system. Do give the brand name eight weeks before you increase or change.

Cymbalta is an anti depressant actually and they take a long time to build up in your system. Good luck...

I know sometimes you can get your Dr. to call in to the insurance company. Plus you can appeal it and write letters. This happen to me on a drug and I finally won after a few letters and dr. helping with it. It wasn't Cymbalta.

My insurance company switched me to generic Cymbalta and it didn't work qs well I asked to be switched to name brand and I pay a $56.00 copay. It's worth it. Sometimes people can't tolerate generic. Every body's different.
