Have only known I had fibro myself for a couple of months, but I am on Cymbalta myself. From what I have heard others say it depends on the person. It effects some people different. Some it helps a lot, others have problems with it. If your doctor put you on it , I would try it and if you notice any bad side affects go see your doctor. Some people have bad side affects with Cymbalta. People react different to the same medication . I think it's trial and error. Welcome madremac to the forum! If your like any of us you probably have been experiencing fibro symptoms for awhile before your diagnoses. It's not what you want to hear, but it's also a relief to finally get a name to these crazy fibro symptoms. Are you having lots of pain with numbness and tingling? That is usually a reason why they give lyrica. I would at least give it a chance. You will get many reports of good and bad results. We all respond so different to meds. I could never take Cymbalta. I had a serotonin reaction to it. So we are so different in many ways, but have the same diagnoses. Many here have numerious other health issues, so it changes the individual treatment.

I recommend you read up on some fibro books. It was a great tool for me. It relieved a lot of my anxiety and I had a better understanding of the fibro symptoms. Many are on line these days. This is a great forum to learn how to manage your fibro better. We all learn from each other and receive support too.

I found out the more simple I keep my fibro treatment the better I am. I have tried several meds, but only to get bad side effects. Most fibromites are very senstive to meds. I do the following for my fibro. Exercise, eat healthy, limit stress, heat, rest when I can, vitamin D, calcium, remron and subutex for pain. It took sometime to perfect this, but it really works for me. When trying something new give it time to work. I call it a trial and error method.

If you suffer from depression, it doesn't hurt to see a therapist. I believe it's a great part of a well rounded treatment program. The chronic pain can really drag someone down.

I am glad you found this forum. I hope you receive as much as I have out of it. It has given my life back to me. I was at the bottom of the barrel when I found this forum. It had taught me so much. Things that are never shared by your doctors. I hope we see you around again. Please feel free to ask questions or if you need to just vent the day away. Lol
