Diagnosis

With my second visit with the rheumatologist, he said my blood work was normal except for a vitamin D deficiency. He increased the lyrica and also prescribed vitamin D pills and some anti inflammatory called mobic. So now I have those plus the zanaflex and tramado. I haven't taken the mobic because I thought fibro didn't cause inflammation? I'm kind of concerned about this dr because he came in, told me the results, diagnosed fibro, wrote some prescriptions and left. I was only in there for about five minutes total. The only trouble is trying to find a rheumatologist that will accept my insurance and there are very few rheumatologist in my area to.begin with.

Remember-from the doctors point of view, their job is figuring out the problem and then prescribing care/medication that will deal with the care. There are many different kinds of medications out there, and we respond to different things. Try it. If it works after 6 weeks or so, great. If not, when you see the doctor again, tell him.

Most doc have a 15 minute limit per patient for follow-ups. Some even have a shorter time proscribed either by practice or insurance. Some docs will spend lots of time with their patients, but that is becoming a thing of the past. And, really, what else can he do?

Many have found that nurse practitioners are more available and can spend more time with their patients. Does your doc have one that works with him/her?

Again, that time limit sounds pretty normal for a follow-up appointment.

Anti inflammatory really helps me..even tho my inflammation test is not high...i stiffen up like a board without it... It can be hard on your intestines...so i would only take it of needed...use trial and error..if it does not help...do not take it though..i actually felt like i needed more but thought it was dangerous to take more, so ma usuing tumeric, which helps..

Keep us posted...a lot of drs are like that... In and out of room..my dr knows i do not come often so he schedules more time for me..i ask all my questions once a year...

Did he write all those at once?

Good reads.helps to know I'm not alone. Nsaids really upset my stomach now., other meds get me really high. Im a small dude, 5-5 153lbs. I have tried so many meds, upping doses till they kinda worked or lowering to fit my pain vs life on life's terms. It's tough. I'm only 33 and it's been several years. I haven't had a for sure diagnosis. RDS or peripheral neurapathy, or " maybe it's fibro, nah, maybe its not" all I know is that I have to live with pain, and flare ups, and that it feels like I was given a life sentence. Then seeing old people at these pain centers and neurologist offices. Being treated as just another drug seeker? Omg, It is tough.
