I was given Savella a month ago. I have the starter pack to see if I can tolerate it. I am scared stiff to take this med. I have had some really bad experiences in the past with anti-depressants. I understand it is not one, but works like one. I now have a great doc and I trust him, but it's hard to move past my bad experiences with older docs who just thought I was "nuts" and gave me meds for depression etc.

Has anyone used this med? and if so what was your experience? I also have psoratic arthritis,and take mobic. This drug must be used with caution with savella. I may get to a point where I have to make a choice between the two.

I think that the only way we can find out is to try it. I have never taken Savella. I understand the same, that it works like an antidepressant. Which means it could take awhile for you to find out if it will work.

I tried Savella twice and the pain relief was miraculous -- truly -- a MIRACLE!! But... I had side effects of headaches and jaw pain that forced me to discontinue. I really wish I could have stayed on it.

I also have had MANY side effects with antidepressants, but we have to keep trying until we find the one that is right for us. Wishing you the best!

I had immediate relief from Savella, even on the smallest dose they put you on! If you are scared, don't titrate as quickly to the full dose…keep cutting those 25mg in half until you feel comfortable. I know they say it sometimes takes weeks for results, but this was absolutely not the case for me. Savella cuts my pain by about 70%. By the way, I am also on Celebrex which is like Mobic. I take that for arthritis pain. The two are a good combination for me, and I have no real side effects.

Savella is different than other drugs in that it is an SNRI as opposed to an SSRI…you can google the difference easily.
