I haven't been exercising like I should for a few months, due to financial reasons. Bad me.
We decided to go hiking today, up to the mountains. I have an aluminum hiking stick, which helps get up and down, and a small pack which carries tissues, nuts and apples, and a pain killer stash. It's a trail we do at least 4-5 times a year, so are familiar with it.
It was gorgeous, the last burst of Indian summer, just a few leaves falling, but the remainder still green and vivacious.
However, I could really tell my endurance was down. I am physically capable of the climb, but my stamina was pooping out on me. At about mile 6, and of course at the uphill portion, I almost gave up.
I didn't stop, though it took some time, first climbing, then resting, then climbing some more, while younger and quicker folks passed us by.
Home, painkiller, long soak in epsom salts, some lunch, and then a little lay down. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
