I have had fibromyalgia for many years. I stopped complaining about my symptoms because the test were always negative. The situation was getting worse, finally, by chance, a doctor diagnosed fibromyalgia and post polio syndrome neither of which I had ever heard of. Confirmed by a rheumatologist and neurologist. No treatment other than come back for monitoring and pain meds and antidepressant meds. Not keen on taking too many meds and those that I did take did not help but produced side affects that only added to the already miserable problems. I Stopped all artificial sweeteners and diet foods. Seems to have helped.
If you have recently been diagnosed just know that I have found stress a trigger, diet foods are also a trigger, cold affects me, and a myriad of other seemingly insignificant issues can set it off. You are not crazy, or a hypochondriac, people that don't have it will not understand why a simple hug can be painful or that your itchy scalp is not associated with dry skin, that your feeling down is due to that fact that you never feel well, not because you have a mental issue, that you have full body pain and aches 24/7. Just know that it is a very real illness and one that is debilitating but invisible. Take care of yourself, watch your diet and ignore those that snicker at you or tell you it is imaginary, it is real.
