Thigh/butt pain

Hi - yes I have had the exact pain. You are not alone. It comes and goes. I have to sit or drive in the car with one butt cheek tilted and higher than the other to relieve the pain. I am also on gabapentin but have stopped amitryptiline (hated the weight gain). Tried Cymbalta but am stopping that as well. Did not react well to it. What I do find is gentle stretching works. I think the hip muscles are so tight that it is causing the nerves to be pinched. If you can get yourself to do physical therapy or massage I think you will find relief. It's important to stretch properly though or you can make it worse. That is why I suggest trying someone who knows how to deal with stretching/exercise and can explain it to you. I realize that sometimes you just feel so bad you can't imagine going to a physical therapist or gym but it really does help and is well worth it.

Good luck to you and remember, while at times it may feel like it is not going to get better, it always does. One day at a time or it becomes too overwhelming. I have learned over this past year that as bad as it gets, it always gets better so please hang in there.

You can definitely get help with this through physical therapy. Have you had any?

I had locking trigger points in my hips and could barely move at times, but a physical therapist could release them ...then i learned to do the releases myself...it takes less time and lasts longer..for me anyway....

Hoping you can get some help with this very soon.it is painful

I get this same pain. I use a pad to sit on at work and in my car. There have been times I thought I would start crying when was in a car and couldn't get out. I get sciatica sometimes too, but this is different, it is not just down the nerve, it is down the whole back of the butt-ox and thighs and not a sharp pain like sciatica but a sore, encompassing pain.

Using a pad does help
