Hi Azgram:
I have not been on these types of pain meds. I was not on Fentanyl Patch or Oxycontin long enough to cause withdrawal symptoms. I got so sick, like a flu, when on Fentanyl Patch and just stopped using it. I could not cope with Oxycontin, it was way too strong for me. I never experimented with recreational drugs as a teen so these meds were something new.
I was on Lyrica for 2 years and taken off due to weight gain. You have to come off slowly. My Headache Doctor brought the amount down slowly. I think you would need help from your Doctors to slowly come off. I have found out from a post here that it is hard to come off the muscle relaxer Baclofen. I am not coming off of it but I guess all meds have potential problems when it comes to withdrawal. I did have some withdrawal symptoms from Lyrica. Chills and itching.
The pain is really hard to deal with. I realized when off Lyrica that it was helping some. I am currently injured. My left arm is in pain. I brushed a nerve. Some fingers are a bit numb. On top of this, I slipped in the tub and injured my ankle. It is bruised and swollen. Using ice and elevating my ankle. I am taking Arthritis 8 hour Tylenol. Will see my Headache Doctor next week. His specialty is Pain Relief.
I am a bit stuck as I am on Nortriptyline. My Family Physician said Tramadol does not mix well with Nortriptyline. I do know people on the forum use them both. I had a few Tramadol left from 30 that were prescribed a couple years ago. They are 50 mg and I cut them in half. I have been using 25 mg to help sleep. I did buy some Magnesium with Malic Acid and I am hoping they might help.
Good luck to you what ever you decide to do. I am sure others who have been on these meds will respond.
